For many Christians around the world, Easter Monday is the day they go to meet ‘Jesus in Galilee’ and different people choose various places as their ‘Galilee’, some Churches organize fun-fair, while many people decide for some reason to go to the beach!
At the entrance, we were billed two thousand naira (₦2000) per adult while nothing was charged for the kids with us.
Parking Fees
Another five hundred naira (₦500) was charged for parking fees
Corkage Fees
No Corkage fees was charged, we were permitted to bring as many drinks and as much food as possible into the premises. I believe this contributes to how unkempt the beach is
Activities
First, I started up the kids on a horse ride, I was told that each trip would cost two thousand naira (₦2000), I made a good bargain and they took the two kids on one trip for (₦1500)
Second, we went to a locally made kind of Ferris wheel/ Tilt-a-whirl I don’t know what name to call it. It got us screaming at the top of our lungs. Do you know the amazing thing about it? It was manually driven! Three men with gloves spun this to the amazement, delight or even fear of all those on the ride.
It was meant to be one thousand naira per person, but, again, I had a good bargain and got all four of us on the ride. The view of the beach when the ride takes us all the way up is simply breath-taking!
Next, we went to the beach. For many years, I have avoided playing by the beach, despite how much I frequent the beach. Why? My hair! I just try to avoid the beach sand getting entangled in my hair, but this time, I had kids and they wanted to dive! There was no stopping them, so, yes! I got a lot of sand in my hair!
Following this shuddering experience, especially for the kids, we stepped out a little and sat right there on the sea shore to have Pizza and what we Nigerians call; ‘small chops’ usually consisting of chicken, samosa, spring roll and something we call ‘puff puff’. We downed all of these with water and some juice
Next, we went back to the party of those we were meeting at the beach, we saw there wasn’t much happening at the table. I took a cup of Baileys Irish Cream, topped it with some Berry blast, some more water, picked up the kids towels and decided to take a walk on the beach, to keep the shuddering in check
During our walk, we discovered another part of the beach, which was a lot different from the one we had been dipping and soaking all along! This part had a lot of sea shells! Well, we settled down and decided to pick some. Same location, but different kinds of shells, how marvelous is the Almighty who makes all things well! I also discovered that this part of the beach was somewhat ‘flatter’ in topography than the other part we were and the waves break more forcefully and it was a lot more sandy.
We walked away from that spot and came across one of the men on the Quad bikes, this is one activity, I have never attempted on a beach before even though I have always eyed in surreptitiously. So, I stopped to ask how much he would take me and the twins yes, the kids were twin girls. He started at five thousand naira (₦5000), I had a good deal with him and he took us for just half the price. oooh! the stares we drew! it was so worth it!
We returned to the party and saw they were about to take a photo, of course, I had to put my skills to use as I helped organize the photo and gave them a nice click!

Departure
We returned to the vehicle, I refused to change out of my beach wear. From there, we drove out of Lagos to the place I will spend the remaining six days of my Easter holiday.
I know it’s being a while, I carried you all with me in a special irreplaceable part of my heart ;
When I saw the title of your post @Ewaade_3A with the words EASTER MONDAY and then saw the cover photo I thought this was some kind of resurrection a horse and some kind of beach buggy! Well, Elegushi Royal Beach sure looks like a fun beach.
ps: not all your photos are properly being displayed
Thank you for asking, all good here. I’ve been very busy over the past few months developing, testing and implementing the new Top 100 Local Guides leaderboard system and so far, things are looking good. Now that you’re back, we’re all looking forward to seeing more posts from you
Yes we all noticed and missed you @Ewaade_3A I stand to be corrected but I seem to recollect that someone was even trying to organize an Ewaade search party
Sweetheart! you can’t even begin to imagine. With time, I realized that; ‘it’s better to keep your eyes open’. With your eyes closes, the feeling is terrible! your stomach will churn, you feel yourself ‘dropping suddenly’ from a height! It was all shades of fun but my most favorite moment was on the Quad bike. @AlphaSays
Easter Monday here in Italy is known as Pasquetta (Little Easter) and is the day for a picnic with friends in the middle of springtime. This makes outdoor areas normally more crowded of the City center (LOL).
Traditional food here for the picnic is usually hard-boiled eggs and asparagus, as well as of course sliced meats and cheeses, always paired with a good glass of wine.
This year I have been particularly lucky, and I have celebrated Easter twice (the Catholic and the Orthodox). I celebrated them both at home with friends from Ukraine, and the meaning of the word Peace was never as important as it is now.
FYI: The photos that are not seen are seven. To check visibility, try opening your post in Incognito mode. You can make your images visible through the individual photo sharing control in Google Photo, but you should always check in Incognito to make sure you have done the steps correctly.
P.S .: it’s a pleasure to see you active, I hope you are well. A hug
Thank you and thank you for your kind wishes, thanks also for taking time to give me a ‘shout out’ while I was away. I appreciate.
Just like your city, the City center here is crowded too, only that; we have no ‘traditional foods’ to celebrate. I remember one year (2013), I went for Easter Monday Mass and from there, went to the ‘Lagos Carnival’ which held at Tafawa Balewa square.
Now, you mention Ukraine, I tried checking for @uavalentine today and I can’t find her anywhere on Instagram anymore. Last, we were in touch, the war had not affected her part of town and she was okay. Are you by any chance in touch with her?
Thanks for the info about the photos, I will check it out one more time. Truth be told; each time I checked and did not find a photo, I just added it again, instead of deleting the previous link.
Thanks for the hug which I presume is a warm hug @ErmesT
I think you @ErmesT are a very brilliant teacher and more than that; a patient one at that. Adam @AdamGT had told me he couldn’t see the photos earlier and I thought I had fixed it.
@TravellerG had told me severally to always check my posts in incognito mode too, I juust never did that because the method I knew as taught by @plavarda was foolproof.
After your comment, I really went to view the post in incognito mode. Do you know where I missed it out today? One important step; I did not make the Album a shared one first before copying the link, I have been away so long, my skills have become rustic
thank you once again, Ermes
P.S. - Do you know my previous comment read; "Adam has told me before and I have checked it, I am tired of doing it, you all will have to manage it like that " before I got a hold of myself and typed; “I will check it out” and really did! I have missed this community, it’s such a great influence on me and on my way of doing things and responding to people generally. No room for fatigue, complacent, lackadaisical or curt attitude here! Happy to be back
Be warned @Ewaade_3A don’t ever go on amusement rides with me, I can be very mean and they don’t really scare me other than making me laugh at people. Quad bikes are fun, I love them.
