East European bread and Marble Cake

A friend gave me some chocolate plums a few Christmases ago now, and they were from Eastern Europe.

Nothing compares with these chocolate plums, so one day I went into a Bulgarian shop and asked if they had these kind of chocolates.

Whilst I was there I got some bread as I needed to make a sandwich later on.

Earlier this week I saw some bread similar to the one I bought and I got some because I wanted to make a sandwich later !

It’s different from traditional British bread in texture:

Whereas traditional British bread is softer and dense. Polish bread is lighter and goes well with any salad mix nicely.

Yet the bread supermarkets use to make sandwiches is the kind of bread I also like for its firm but smooth texture, that adds something to extra to say, a cheese or bacon sandwich.

The Polish Marble cake has a nice texture that has that freshly made-at-home taste and goes extremely well with piping hot tea.

Hi @Kol-Colleen_2018

Your post brought me back to memories. I lived in United Kingdom for almost five years, and I discovered this bread after a while. I agree with you that is lighter and also really healthier to combine with juicy pink tomatoes that you can usually find in Polish shops.

Do you buy other specific products from Polish shops usually?
