Hello Google Local Guide Community! I wanted to hear feedback from the community on if you believe earning money for contributions would be more impactful vs. Google perks? There have been discussions around a platform which allows local guides the opportunity to make $ rather than perks. These guides would do the same type of contributions but would rather get paid for providing information and unique knowledge around your own neighborhood. I believe this to be a great concept and something which hopefully can garner interest from the masses. Please connect with me directly to find out more about our Local Chicago group testing the concept!
agree 100%
This has to be explained many times as this request continues to be made. Local Guides is a voluntary program, a hobby, to help, to share for fun. The perks are that perks, they try to give something even though it’s not expected or required. This is not a Job or an ONG. I’m sorry muy friend @bmang1017 @Khrehankashmiri
Local Guides is a global community of explorers who write reviews, share photos, answer questions, add or edit places, and check facts on Google Maps. Millions of people rely on contributions like yours to decide where to go and what to do.
You can find this, and much more about the local Guides program, on the Local Guides help page
We do this as volunteers, not only because being paid is against the program rules, but because this give us the freedom to be honest on our reviews.
Reviews: Do you believe that a paid review can be honest, reflecting your real experience of the place?
Photos: Every business can hire a photographer, to add professional photos by themselves, through the Google My Business platform.
As this post is not related to achievements, I am tagging @PoliMC for moving it on How To
Hi @bmang1017 and @ErmesT ,
Local Guides are not paid nor may Local Guides earn money for their contributions, per our program rules.
The Local Guides program is for individuals who contribute to Google Maps who like to help others to discover and explore their world.
Local Guides receive benefits depending on their level which depends on the number of contributions they make to Google Maps. You can learn more about the program and benefits in the Help Center.
I am going to relabel this post to the How-tos section in order to keep Connect organized and will mark @ErmesT 's answer as a solution.
