During a season when rainy days are fading away and winter is knocking, we have been working for our grand festival the Durga Puja also termed as Sharad festival where Goddess Durga with her children are visited to her native mother’s house annually to spend somedays with their family assemblage.
To mark this gesture the people of Bengal have been enjoying and engaging themselves with this festival as if their daughters as Uma alias Durga.There are also mythological aspect too, where Ramchandra alias Lord Rama worshipped a mighty Goddess depicted as Durga to get her blessings to conquer Ravana, the king of Lanka, who had stolen Sita w/o Lord Rama.
It was the season of Autumn in contrary to Spring season when Goddess Basanti alias Durga was felicitated and worshipped in Bengal especially after harvest season. Since then this festival had been gaining popularity and spreading everywhere
