Duplicate places in Connect Live 2020 application Google Maps list

I have doubts related to my application Google Maps list.

Two of the monuments in my list are duplicate places. I tried submitting edits about duplicate places, but they got rejected every time. So, I compared the information about both of these two duplicate places and I found that they are equally popular and have almost equal numbers of reviews and photos.

I decided to add both of these duplicate place entries for these two monuments in my list. The description and photos I submitted for the duplicate places are the same, given that the monuments are the same.

Is that OK or do I have to remove the duplicates from my list? Would the presence of duplicate places make my list of less quality for the application evaluation?

@ErmesT could you advice me on the matter, please?

The question is interesting, BTW Google maps rules will help us in this.

First of all, uploading the same photo in two places is against the program rules. So please choose one of the two places, and remove the photos (and reviews, if you wrote one) from one of the two POIs, and keep the other one on your list.

Are you talking about the "Monument volunteer " and the "Monument of Bulgarian volunteers "?

The first one have 45 reviews, and the second one have only two ratings, so I will keep in my list the first one.

Suggesting a merge is indeed possible, but to be merged the two places should have some similitude:

  • Category: The category should b the same. In this case, the first place is categorized as Historical landmark while the second one as a Statue. The first thing to do is to edit the category of the one you want to merge. Only when the first edit will be applied, you can try the next one
  • Contribute: contributing in a place means to declare that a place exist. Your contribution on the duplicate are denying your edit

I followed your guidelines and hopefully my list is corrected now.

The only problem is that currently it’s hard to try adding/removing photos due to numerous issues, such as loading for too long and not uploading photos, getting an error message “Sorry. We’re not able to process your photos currently” and other problems (I also saw that there is a post about know issue affecting photo uploads).

Would it be OK to submit the application first and meanwhile (and after submitting) to try adding/removing photos affected by these issues?

You can of course upload your application, as the application period will close in less than 48 hours @EliKrumova

BTW, the issues mentioned by you are not related to “delete photos” that is always possible.

Please keep in mind that, after the removal, the photo will remain visible for more than 24 hours, till the databases synchronize

Also, I started deleting the photos of duplicate places.
