Hi, I need help with a place I reported it’s duplicate!
The main one had 51 reviews and a good quality virtual tour I mad myself, the other one had 27 and an incomplete and poor quality virtual tour! I reported the duplicate and now the one that was showing on everyones phone is closed! and the incorrect one is now the main!!! God your algorithms, here’s a link to the place:
When duplicates exist the one that is kept is determined by the behind the scenes linkages that the public cannot see.
The photos and reviews for all places, however, are separate from the places and thus are not lost when a place is deleted. If for any reason a place is incorrectly deleted and needs to be replaced, over time the system will realize the connection and start showing more and more of those orphaned reviews and photos on the new feature.
When it comes to reviews the process is even faster, as the duplicate is not deleted but rather is merged with the remaining feature. Essentially it becomes hidden and is a feed into the visible feature, which is why it’s always good to make sure both features information is correct before you mark a duplicate since one will then feed the other. This means that the system can more quickly realize that the photos and reviews on the hidden feature should be displayed on the remaining feature, but it still can take multiple weeks.
Thanks for the detailed explanation, multiple weeks sounds like forever man:person_facepalming:t2: .
If I re-index the 360 photos from SV to the new location, would it help or make it worse? And even if they are merged, the little photo that is shown here may open the bad tour! I mean if you would compare them yourself, you could judge the qualities and comprehensiveness of the tours!
also it could be reported for bad quality, should I proceed?
@Flash I was surprised to hear that the current imagery was even better than some of Google’s own, but was it this one you meant or the second one?
Also since this was a paid tour I intend to leave this topic open, not marking an answer as the solution at the moment until it hopefully gets fixed and I run out of questions .
Were you paid to create the tour you put on @Kia_Faraji ?
I don’t see the SVtp badge on your profile. Local Guides are not allowed to be paid for their contributions. I recommend you be careful to stay within the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions. Its fine for a Local Guide to add virtual tours, but to be paid you must be in the Street View trusted photographer program.
I explained what was necessary in my last comment and your reply, relevant though it was to the subject of virtual tours & SVTP, was merely a reminder to a rule which I found irrelevant to my previous comment; read carefully.
I believe your replies could cause misleading about me since In multiple of your responses (in this and other posts) you implied that I’ve done something wrong while I had to put time to clarify I hadn’t.
And I also would like to ask you not to participate in assisting me in any further cases from now on.
What Paul is telling you is factual. As we were entering the busy season at my job I unfortunately missed your response to me where you said this was a paid tour. We cannot help you with paid tours in this forum. You would need to use the resources available to SV photographers, or if you are not part of that program any longer then the store owner or their official representative would need to go to the Google Business Profiles community.
