Drumming in Washington DC

The magic happens every Sunday in Washington DC’s Meridian Hill Park better known as Malcolm X Park. Hundreds of drummers from different nationalities gather with the same purpose, love for the drum and culture. Families, elders, photographers, dancers and music lovers have kept this tradition alive for over 50 years and still going. Congas, djembes, cuicas, darbukas, Tom’s, shakers, maracas sound so rhythmically you can hear it blocks away. If you’re visiting the nation’s capital, please look up Meridian Hill Park and make sure you stop by and speak to our elders as they are guardians of the Washington DC tradition.
