I work in Turkish Development Agency as a Southeast Asian expert. In 2016 I get a posted to Myanmar where I worked for two year. Myanmar is such a diverse and beautiful country. Their cuisine is little bit extra ordinary to compare to other Southeast Asian food. I guess it’s the only country where you can drink tea while eating tea leaf salad. Since its a developing country, restaurant and cafe business were booming. I was ok to try to new tastes. Then I realize other expats are hesitating to go new restaurant and cafe shop. Than one of my friend suggested me; ‘ Esra why don’t you use Google map , you can write reviews about food also you can pin new places on the map cause you travel a lot inside of the country’. Thanks to that friend, I started use google maps and try to pin new business or tourist attractions across the country. When I realize these reviews becoming useful not only for expats but more importantly for the locals it made me so happy. Since than I am sharing whether I find worthy to share with community. After two years working in Myanmar, I turned back to Ankara than continue to use Google map. In Ankara so many World cuisine restaurants starts to open, I share reviews for locals to explore these tasty bites. One time I was in Istanbul and went to beauty salon which is recently open. Andı t took for me one hour to reach the beauty salon because there was no pin on Google maps. When I reached there I asked to owner why you didn’t add your business to Google, than she answered me: ‘How to do it, I don’t know’. Then I realized she was a lady open her shop via micro credit new in business and doesn’t know how to use Google map. Than I did pin and entered all the information on Google. After she thank me alot. Maybe my contribution was very small but ıt made so happy to help to small enterprise.
So thanks Google, to make our lives easier ?
