My mother and I had the experience of trying on a traditional Japanese kimono, complete with a photoshoot session in a shrine. Later on we learned about the traditional tea ceremony. We had such fun and all was very interesting. I recommend it.
Have you ever thought about having this experience? Did you know about it? Let me know!
Thank you for sharing your photos.
I am very happy to know that you love kimono.I thought that the combination of the yellowish green belt with the purple floral kimono was very nice. And the kimono your mother is wearing is also unusually dark green in the type of kimono “squeezed”. I think it looked great with your mother.
And even Japanese I have not experienced traditional tea ceremony.
There are an increasing number of shops where you can rent kimonos in tourist areas in Japan. Furthermore, there are also facilities where admission fees are discounted when you wear kimono or yukata (summer). I hope you will wear a kimono again next time you come to Japan.
I love Japan. We had this experience on my last trip there, my 2nd, and last one there, last year. We went to Shibamata Taishakuten Temple. We enjoyed the walk to the temple with all the shops and loved the famous carved wood walls that the Temple has. I tell about it to all that I found is planning to go to Tokyo, to take the trip over there. Is so worth it!!
Thanks! I look foward to go back! And definitely will try it again. The shop owners were a couple we found on airbnb expierences. They tried to teach us how to build all the clothing on us. But I am sure I do not remember any of the tips. hahahaha
Que hermosos kimonos @SofiaWalnut , tendrĂas que compartirnos la historia completa de como fue tu viaje a JapĂłn estoy seguro que a muchos otros Local Guides, les interesara conocer como fue esa aventura, gracias por compartir.
Hello @SofiaWalnut
You have had a great experience! Do you know Issey Miyake? As he sent out to the world, Japanese kimono is a very good clothes designed to fit various shapes without cutting. However, it takes time to wear.
Actually, both @Izumi and I are making a movement to wear a kimono at normal times! Especially she is a kimono veteran. We are a minority, but someday it will come true!
Hi. I booked the experience using Airbnb web. And we went to the store to get dressed in Takasago neighborhood. Later we went to take pictures at Shibanata- Taishakuten Temple.
