Downgrade from Local Guide Level 8 to Level 7. Why ?

Hi everybody,
i have a serious problem with my local guide account and need you help:

In October last year I was close to reaching level 8. This was also confirmed by email (screenshot see below).

I have reached level 8 around the middle of December and until then I was actually happy.

But on the first day of the new year I found out that I was downgraded to level 7.
You can imagine my disappointment and it was just before, to close my account.

As far as I can tell, around the beginning of the year more than 10,000 of my responses have been disregarded and I have no idea why.

I hope someone, especially someone from the local guide support, can check this and correct the error.
Or anyone has an idea, who at Google I could contact about this matter.

I like Google maps a lot, but you can imagine that under these circumstances, i don’t feel like dealing with it any more.

Hi @Cottoprivado

Please visit this link and make sure that you have selected “Keeping activity until you delete it manually”.

Otherwise, you will keep losing points from answers given by you when they get deleted automatically by Google.

This should solve your problem in the future. Sorry, there is no way to recover the points you already lost.

If this is not the problem please ask again and we can try to spot other issues.

Sad to note that there was a reduction in points.

Although, the accumulated points are for the lifetime, still, there can be a deduction for the following reasons.

Deleting photos & reviews voluntarily.

I have removed many photos which were duplicated inadvertently.
However, the deduction in points becomes obvious.

Purging of objectionable photos and reviews through automated evaluation.,

“Reviews are automatically processed to detect inappropriate content like fake reviews and spam. We may take down reviews that are flagged in order to comply with Google policies or legal obligations.”

However, the most likely reason is the deletion of Maps history. When we choose to delete that after three or eighteen or thirty-six months, that action deletes the answers to the questions.

The loss due to this inadvertent action is irrecoverable.
Nevertheless, to prevent further such deductions, you have to choose to retain the Web & App activity forever.
To do that, click your profile icon in the app. Next → Settings → Maps History → Auto Delete → & then select the option “Don’t auto delete”.

As @MortenCopenhagen provided you with the answer to your query, I will accept his comment as a solution. This is someone else has a similar doubt, the information can be found easier. Please, as he advises, remove the auto-delete option to prevent this kind of change in the points in the future. I’d also check @C_T 's comment as it is very detailed and contains all the possible reasons for loosing points.
