Dolomites revisit

Dolomites

These are the first images I will upload related of our 2022 trip to Europe, revisiting Italy Dolomites.

Lago di Landro

At the beginning of this century, we traveled this region, but it was constantly raining and couldn’t see the Dolomites. Disappointed, on our way to Austria, I found a small lake called Lago di Landro. I was able to take just a few images with film, when the rain stopped.

At home when I developed the film, was able to see in the background mountains covered by the clouds. I did not know that there were the Dolomites.

This time, coming from Austria to Italy, we found a small lake adjacent to the road. We could see the Dolomites on the surroundings, and rapidly remembered that this was the lake photographed 22 years before. I was testing a new Polar filter from Heliopan, and somehow the images did not come well. I had to return the following day to retake them.

Lago Antorno

The lodging was a small hotel in front of Lago Antorno, a very small lake, but has all the Dolomites surrounding it.

I made many images, some panoramic, before the clouds coming up from the valley would cover the entire seen. There were a few photographers waiting for the sunset warm painting, that did not happen as the fog and clouds covered with a white-gray color the entire seen.

The following morning it was raining, went to the lake, and found a small stream of water tainted with white lime, contrasting with the lake green water. I liked the composition and registered it.

Later that day we returned to Lago di Landro, images came out partially what I expected. Will have to return someday and dedicate a longer time just for the Dolomites.

Hi @GonzaloContreras ,

Thank you for sharing this interesting post with everyone! The quality of the photos is simply superb! May I ask what device are you using?

I would like to share with you that a best practice here on Connect is to always add captions to your photos. This will help everyone better understand your photos and appreciate them even more.

As a kind reminder, we do not allow any advertising on our platform. We would like to encourage you to keep the conversation on Connect rather than redirecting people to your personal blog. Take a moment to recap our Local Guides program rules.

Please edit your post and remove the link leading to your blog. It is a best practice to add a Google Maps link to a location instead. You can edit your publication following the helpful instructions that you will find here: Edit your post - Why and How To.

Hi Tesko,

Yes you are correct, it was not my intention to include the link, copying the text from my personal blog, I missed to delete, will remove it now.

Regarding the camera, I use a Sony A7R mark4, and for the film images, I used a Rollei 6006 and Velvia film.

Regards,

Gonzalo

Hi Tseko,

I had issues trying to edit from Safari (as the edit button did not respond), finally using Firefox, I was able to do so, and deleted the link.

Have a question regarding your following comment: “It is a best practice to add a Google Maps link to a location instead”, I tried to add the location, but the options I obtain from the system, does not give me the true location, just the area (like the county), I tried to put the GPS data as well but it did not allow either.

Or are you saying that when I mention the name of Lago Antorno (the link I put is the GPS coordinates?

Thanks for this post, @GonzaloContreras

I love the mountains, and I love the Dolomites. In a post a few years ago I wanted to talk about it as a “room with a view”, precisely because of the wonderful views that the Dolomites offer us.

This photo has been taken on Costalissoio , with the border between Italy and Austria on the background.

Edit: I saw now that you already shared the links, so please do not consider the part here below. It would be helpful if, when responding, you tag the person you are replying to. In this way @TsekoV will receive an additional notification, like the ones that you are receiving now from my reply. This notification is extremely important for him, because Moderators are involved in a huge amount of different conversations, so a generic notification about you replying in a post may not caught their nor also mine) attention.

Regarding Sharing a Location with a link from Google Maps, it is enough if you share the link that you obtain about the area (e. g. the Lake Antorno).

From the link we will be able to explore the area using the Satellite mode of Maps

Regarding how to take share a link, I wrote a detailed explanation in Need Help? - Help Us to Help You

Thank you for the clarification.

It is a magnetism, colors (as the color pallet of the image you sent me), and something more that made me return from South America to Italy after 2 decades.

By the way, I was able to link on both lake names the google maps location of them.

Gonzalo

Yup, I saw that with a bit of delay, @GonzaloContreras , so I edited my post, but it was too late because you were already responding.

A side note about South America. I am adding a lot of road in the Andes, and I spend at least 30 minutes every day exploring the areas. I’ve been caught by the photos uploaded on the observatories in the area, like this one.

I promised to myself that one day I will have to go there.

Don’t you agree, @plavarda ?

The place is magnificent, I went last year, at this altitude is about 4500 meters the colors are very intense and crisp, you have a very strong blue sky.

Wow the photos of the place is so stunning @GonzaloContreras . Beautiful pics and i am just in awe. The place looks like out of a book or something. Thanks for sharing. It is so good to be here otherwise i wouldn’t have got to know about Italy Dolomites. Never heard of this place before.

Thank you @Mukul_Anand

For the analog image of 22 years ago I used a Rollei 6006 with Velvia film, scanned at a high resolution.

For the 2022 images I am using Sony A7R IV, lowest ISO, RAW and tripod (most of the time).

All images are cleaned/enhanced with Lightroom/Photoshop, however I do not photo mont or collage images, just the single image, except for the panorama that 3 images were stitched together.

Gonzalo

hola @RosaFrancoMendoza Definitivamente es un lugar para visitar, en Otoño las hojas contrastan con todas las montañas, algunas que ya les cae nieve.
