Curious to know this , if someone knows who is the most followed person on Google maps . I searched on Google but didn’t find this information. It will be interesting to know, so it will encourage more local guides to push themselves to achieve more.
This is not public information. As getting followers is not directly related to contribution quality I doubt this would be useful. I have seen examples where the following has been large for no good reasons.
My personal opinion is there should be some competition for a community to grow. It doesn’t have to be a clash of wars it can always be a friendly one. Everyone knows who is the most subscribed youtuber , but no one knows this information on maps even within the community. I beleive for a community to grow these information has to be public and give credits to them accordingly. So ,it will encourage more local guides to come in and contribute enthusiastically.
Probably an LG who has been around a long time, and doesn’t care who is following them. I’ve seen many similar discussions here. I only allow non restricted accounts who actively participate. The rest are ‘unfollowed’. - Steve
Google Maps is a tool, @md_arshath18 , for navigation and for finding places, and to get the necessary information.
Google Maps is not a social media platform, and should not be used in such a way.
Duplicates and selfies, or useless information, should be absolutely avoided, and are usually ending to the (correct) decision ,to remove a Local Guide and all his contents.
Following people can be helpful, if I follow someone that is posting contents that are useful for me, but I agree @shunsader about other type of followers. Honestly I have no idea about why some person with hidden account or with useless contents are following me. Frequently they try the trick of “I follow you, Follow me back” but I am sorry, I am not interested in following gamers
When I get notified of a new follower, I like to look at their profile and see what type of contributions they’ve been making to Google Maps before i decide if to follow them back or delete them from my followers. Sometimes they have zero activity, other times their profile is set to Private. Both those types are candidates for deletion.
