Hello friends, how are you all ???
This time our pagdandi will take us to the place of dense forest where A bold animal is waiting for you. An animal with dark Orange in colour with black stripes. Yes, you are right, It is a Tiger-An animal known as Sharekhan in India. Actually, I was in a search of a new place where I can see the king of Jungle Tiger and that too being 100% sure. I have searched many posts and concluded that the black striped cat can be seen with greatest probability at Bandhavgarh (Bandhavgadh) MP.
For that, First of all we went to a historical city of Jabalpur, the 3rd largest city of Madhya Pradesh state of India. In Arebic, Jabal means Stone and Pur means City. The city is very famous for the marble rocks of Bhedaghat and Dhuaandhar waterfall.
Mythology describes three asuras (evil spirits) in the Jabalpur region who were defeated by Lord Shiva. Tripurasura being the main asura, gave the city its puranic name Tripur Tirth.[7] Tripuri region also corresponds to the ancient Chedi Kingdom of epic era of Mahabharata times, to which king Shishupala belongs.
Since 11th Century, the Jabalpur was kingdom of Gondwana kings. A king named Raje Madan Shah built a palace on a small hill situated near Jabalpur which was named after him as Madan Mahel. After climbing appx. 2000 steps you will see a marvelous structure of palace built on a huge stone which is later also known as Rani Durgawati fort which is now ruined. This is a must see place in Jabalpur.
Just in front of the foothill of Madan mahal a balancing rock is another great example of natural phenomena of Center of Gravity named as balancing rock, which is just amazing to see once.
And here we are at Dhuadhar waterfall. It is very interesting to see a place which you have studied in your school days. The word Dhuandhar is derived from two Hindi words - Dhuan (smoke) + Dhar (flow). The holy river Narmada forms a gigantic water fall with Mist spray or smoke like feeling.
The plunge, which creates a bouncing mass of mist, is so powerful that its roar is heard from a far distance.
The river Narmada than flows through the marble rocks and creates beautiful sight in Bhedaghat. It is most famous shooting location for Bollywood movies. A movie like Ashoka and Mohen jo daro recently have been shot here.
The boating in Bhedaghat is more effective and blissful during full moon days. It is an experience that cannot be described in words.
From here, our tour goes towards main destination of Bandhavgadh, which is an ancient era fort, which is supposed to be gifted by Lord Rama to his younger brother Laxman and thus it is known as Bandhav’s ( means Brother) fort.
You will be amazed that 70% of world’s tiger population is having India as a hebetate. India is having 50 Tiger reserves and yet it is very rare you can sight a tiger roaming around in dense forest area.
So we were in search of the place where the probability of sighting this bold animal is highest and bandhavgadh is no doubt first in that list, where chances for catching up with Wild cat is almost 70-80%.
Bandhavgadh is total 1600 Square kilomitar national park from which 105 sqare kilomitar area is open for general public for tourism activities. And it comprises of mainly 3 core zones namely : Tala, Magadhi and Khitouli. The high probability for sighting a tiger is because of High density of Tiger population in small area of Forest.
You have to book an open gypsy safari in advance to have a glimpse of Royal Bangal Tiger.
There are very famous tiger reserves in India namely, Ranthambhore at Rajasthan, Corbett at Uttarakhand, Kanha at Madhya Pradesh, Bandipur at karnatak, and Satpuda again in Madhya Pradesh, but chances of sighting a tiger is very rare that only a lucky one can get a chance. Where on the other hand for Bandhavgarh there is saying that only unlucky ones would not get chance to spot a big wild cat.
Other that Tiger, Leopard, Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Peacock, Jackel and Wild Nilgai, and many other wild animals can be spotted here in Bandhavgadh.
Just imagine that you are in an open Gypsy, and suddenly a Tiger, from dense forest, coming towards you and roam around your gypsy for a while and roar, how thrilling experience it would be. All thrilling adventure you can get here in Bandhavgarh.
There are good options of multi star hotels and resorts available in Bandhavgarh experience Dense forest with stay. The nearest Airport is Jabalpur and Nearest Railhead is Umariya.
Instead of visiting Hill stations and Beaches, one should pass the small vacation at this place too with family and friends. It will be more beneficial for kids as well as you to be in the forest and learn the nature at its best. It is always a great deal to see the things rather than hearing it to keep it in memory for long time.
So here I will take a leave and will be back with some new place to enjoy the nature closely.…have a good day…!!!
