Do you have a unique way you measure your Google Maps Contributions?

Does anyone else have a way that you uniquely measure your success on Google Maps Contributions?

I like to measure my success by Average Views Per Photo.

I’ve always wanted to ensure I share the best quality photos on Google Maps. One way that I do that is to check out my average photo views.

I know that many Google Local Guides take many photos that are essential that do not get a lot of views. Example: Bathrooms, ramps, and various other photos that help show accessibility. I know these are necessary and don’t always gain the most views. I tip my hat to those Local Guides. You do great work.

It looks like my average view per photo is 37,415. I’ve been a Local Guide since the beginning, which probably gives me an advantage in having more views per photo.

The Maths: Take your Total Views and Divide By the Total Photos Submitted = Average Views Per Photo

Mine: 259,217,857 / 6,928 = 37,415

Hello fellow LG, @RJ1

We all may have our own style to assess - because…

I am a photographer have a passion to add places of remote shops, businesses, PoIs, etc. So, your measurement style may not suit me (my per photo of the remote places is very low, where I have a single photo with almost 30 Lakh views) - but, I have more than 3,17,000 points & total views of above 16 Crore… - hope you got me…

I am a Guiding Star in LG Connect with almost 400 posts published here.

Best wishes for all the success.

Warm regards with greetings from Bangalore, India.

@TravellerG I’m always impressed with the unique photos of out of the way places. Those definitely provide a lot of value.

I’m impressed with the number of photos you’ve taken. I don’t think I’ll take and post that many photos in a lifetime.

Thanks for the link to the leaderboard. There is always something new to discover on the connect forums. :sparkles:

@TravellerG Thank you.

By the way I’m following your Instagram. WOW! Those are some beautiful photos.

Columbus, Ohio here. But we tend to move frequently for family and work. Our favorite cities to live in are Chicago, IL and New Orleans, LA.

I’ve started the process for the photo leaderboard. @AdamGT has been very helpful and responsive.

Thank you for the very informative welcome back to connect.

@RJ1 Apart from the Top 100 Leaderboards System created by Connect Moderator @AdamGT, I also maintain an Excel spreadsheet where I monitor all photos which have more than 20,000 total views. That figure is probably tiny for big city Local Guides, but I’m from a small country and it could take me a long time for those views to occur.

While the daily views for my Star Photo have been declining, my overall Average Photo Views have been increasing. This is due to following tips on here about taking “better” photos, as well as deleting some of my photos which have extremely small numbers of views, for example -100 views after 3 years. There are also photos of places which no longer exist, and as such, they would no longer be getting views.
