Do you have a reservation? EP.05 :Authentic Burmese restaurant in Bangkok

SA-WAS-DEE-KA from Bangkok, Thailand

Last Friday was my partner’s birthday. We love to try different ethnic foods. To study culture through food, and this time we chose Burmese food.

Thailand and Myanmar are neighboring countries. But I haven’t had a chance to eat it yet. Maybe it’s because it’s not as popular as Japanese, Chinese and Indian cuisines.
I searched many Burmese restaurants on the google map for days. before deciding to choose here. Kalyana Restaurant

I have never eaten Burmese food. So I don’t know if this is the supposed taste or not. but overall for me The food here is not cooked with heavy flavours. Everything is delicious on its own. The food served is mostly vegetables and beans. I think it has a very spiced vibe that is similar to Indian food.

This shallot and tomato clear soup There is a scent of herbs. and soft taste It’s a good appetizer dish.

I heard that if you want to try Burmese food You must not miss this dish.

Laphet Thoke −Tea leaf salad

Lahpet Thoke is one of Myanmar’s most iconic dishes. The sour, slightly bitter, pickled tea leaves are mixed by hand with shredded white cabbage, sliced tomatoes, ginger and other fried spices, dried shrimp, crunchy peanuts, lima beans and peas to create a piquant and savory salad, bursting with flavor and textures. The dish can be a snack, an appetizer or coupled with a plate of rice. Lahpet Thoke is widely observed at traditional ceremonies.

There are both set meals and plates for sale. I have chosen both.

We am impressed with the taste of food and service here. We will be back to this restaurant again soon.

Thank you for reading and joining the discussion in my post. See you in the next post.
