After I had received the email from Google with the opportunity to apply for the connect live event, I dreamed a lot about being in Google Map Center. I dreamed that …
I have received the Email from Google that I have been selected for local guide connect live 2020! I called my girlfriend cheerfully, explained to her about the admission. That night, I invited her to a nice restaurant to celebrate this event.
On our way to the restaurant, I told her what I have done till now for the local guide program and what I am going to do after this. Suddenly I saw us in front of my favorite sushi restaurant which was close on Mondays!
My girlfriend asked: “Haven’t you checked if they are open”?
“How should I know?”, I replied.
- The whole way, you were telling me the story of being a local guide; and how it improved your life that I thought you would know where we should go and eat if we were on Mars.
- Mars! That’s it!
- What? Do you want to take us to mars now? ?
- Haha. no… Local guide, Mars, … We should decide this year in California that the next local guide live connect should take place on Mars and introduce the local guide project to the Martians so they learn how they can complete the google mars map.
- What? Did Google also have a map of Mars?
- Of course, they have…
And I showed her the Map of Mars on my cellphone…
She woke me up:
- Nima… wake up…wake up…. Let us have breakfast earlier and go to IKEA, then shopping
I was still confused about the situation, I opened the Google Map and said:
- Let me see here when IKEA is open today, we should not go there too early…
That was my funny dream 2 weeks ago. Let me tell you who I am and how the Local Guides program impacted my life.
I am 30 years old, I did my Master of geoinformatics in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology where I am doing my Ph.D. now. Google Maps is somehow the most straightforward and at the same time most comprehensive answer to the question: What is geoinformatics? I hear this question almost every time, I say people what I study. And the interesting thing is that it really works! Most of the people know about google maps, they use it almost every day and also lots of them like to know how it works. Then I can explain to them better how geoinformatics change the world to a better place and improve people’s lives.
As a geoinformatics student, my highest aspiration for my future is to be a part of the Google map community, the best company in this field. Then I can make my contribution to keeping Google Maps the greatest map application in the world which will be used in autonomous driving, the internet of things (IoT) and many other helpful applications.
I love traveling, cooking (and of course eating! :D) and gardening. Throughout this post, I would like to share some of my old and new memories with you. There are many memories to make with you in California.
