Hi guys! Has anyone noticed when a photo gets removed (for whatever reason - it’s flagged, it’s not needed) from a Google Local Guide review’s post, that our points that were attached to that photo are deducted from our total photo views?
Hi @NancySarah , thank you for asking.
First of all, even if you attach one or more photos to a review, ance posted the photos have an independent life (e.g. you can delete the reviews but the photos will remain visible).
This said, you will loose the points for a photo if
- The photo is flagged as private (violation of some rule)
- The place related to the photo is deleted from Maps
- You added a photo when adding a new place, but the place was not approved
In the last two example the photo appear to be related to an “unknown place”
There are photos that are visible in you public profile but not visible in the POI. You get points for the photos, but the photos are not displayed. All this is managed by an algorithm, so it is not always easy to say why a specific photo is not displayed. It happen to everyone, but I don’t want to speculate about the reason.
Normally, to ask question to the community we use the label How Tos . Can you kindly cange the label? in this way you will receive more answers and support. Simply press the three blue dots on your post then click on “edit”. Edit your post - Why and How To will help you
Thank you so much @ErmesT for your thoughtful reply! I was going nuts trying to figure out the best place to put my question. I appreciate your guidance and direction on where to post these kinds of questions. I moved it to the right place. Thank you for your understanding and sharing of the wonky/unpredictable photo views - all makes sense.
