If you are looking for yummy Mee Pok and other menu options, I’d like to share a simple restaurant called Mee Pok House (ផ្ទះមីប៉ក់), located along Street 163 in Phnom Penh.
Today, I’d like to share another food experience with the community: Mee Pok, a popular noodle dish that I really enjoyed trying.
I tried the Special Mee Pok, which costs 16,000 Riel (around US$4). I also had Xiamai, priced at 5,000 Riel (around US$1.25).
Mee Pok is known for its thin, flat noodles, usually tossed with a savoury sauce and served with ingredients such as minced meat, fish balls, fish cake, vegetables or other toppings, depending on the restaurant.
What I like about Mee Pok is its simple but satisfying combination of springy noodles, savoury sauce and different textures. It is the kind of dish that can be enjoyed as a quick and simple meal, while still offering plenty of flavour in every bite.
I also enjoyed exploring the other menu options available at the restaurant. Sometimes, discovering a small and simple local restaurant can be just as interesting as visiting a well-known food destination.
Food is one of the things I enjoy discovering when visiting different places. Even a simple bowl of noodles can tell us something about local food culture, culinary influences and everyday eating habits.
As a local guide, I enjoy sharing these experiences because food is not only about finding a place to eat. It is also about discovering something new, sharing recommendations and connecting with the local community.
