Discoveries as a local guide-what's this???

Despite the excitement about the new guiding stars,I continue to contribute and go about my duties as a local guide. Infact am getting more motivation now.As a local guide I explore not only the maps, but everything that’s explorable to me and try to share it here with connect. I’m getting more motivated to share things I discover on my trips here in Liberia and I hope you wll like them. I came across this nice little cute creature.I kind of liked it as I visited around and played with it. It took a shine to me as well and clung to my shirt as in the photo below. I decided to be bold and reciprocate it’s friendliness. Otherwise I was a bit scared  imagine coming across that at night maybe while hiking maybe while camping or anything out in the wild. My first reaction will.be…

Now I discovered this animal today and I’ll endeavour to share the facts and fun about it. It’s the closest I’ve been to it all my life. We have an interesting name for it here in Liberia. Its called “Ant Bag”. What would this be called in your area? Please kindly tell us.

Fun facts about this discovery

  • Google lens identified it as Pangolin while the locals here call it Ant Bag.
  • It’s cute slim face makes you feel pity for it.
  • It’s a very docile and harmless pet.
  • It feeds on ants and termites
  • It lives in the wild
  • It’s tongue is actually larger than the body
  • It’s an endangered specie of animals
  • It’s found only in Africa
  • The scales are medicinal according to sources from the locals
  • The last I’ll mention is,it’s a delicacy!!! This part of it almost made me post this on food and drinks but I decided I better not spam that section.

I came across this in Bong County of Liberia and got my information about it there as well. What’s your thoughts about this please tell us if you don’t mind. Thanks.

Cheers

@SholaIB I think it is a Pangolin. Once it was also found in the forests of Madhya Pradesh in India.
