Hi travelers!
If you’re planning to visit BuenosAires please include this beautiful spot in your list!
This is a great place to escape from the noisy city, connect with nature and relax. And it’s quite a secret spot that not everyone knows!
Here’s a little bit of history and useful information for those who are interested in knowing better this lovely green space.
The Botanical Garden, design by the french architecture Carlos Thays, was founded in September 1878.
The garden gathers 1500 species organized by Thays and was declared “National Historic Monument” in 1996.
The English style building, that today works like an administration office of the Botanical Garden, was the house where Thays and its family used to live.
Guided Visits
Every Saturday, Sunday and holiday you can enjoy a free guided visit in spanish
Hours: 10.30 am and 15.00 pm
Hothouses
The Botanical Garden has 5 hothouses but the the main one__, art nouveau style,__ was specially brought from Paris by Thays.
You can visit this lovely hothouse during your guided visit or every Sunday, Saturday and Holiday at 4.30 pm
Butterflies Garden
Actually this space is amazing. Just stop for a moment and you will see different types of butterflies. Since its inauguration, more than 80 species have been identified!
This is a unique garden in Argentina and, unlike a butterfly garden that is closed, this is an open-air garden. Do not miss it since this space is also visited by many hummingbirds.
The best times to observe butterflies are during spring, summer and autumn. In winter they are almost invisible because there are no flowering plants.
The butterfly garden opens to the public on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m.
