This delicious cake is called diplomatico (or Torta diplomatica, when referred to an entire cake and not just to single pieces).

It is made by different layers with sponge cake, puff pastry and a cream made of custard and chantilly. The name diplomatico comes from the traditional story which describes this cake as firstly sent as a gift to the Duke of Milan from a diplomatic representative of the Duke of Parma.

That looks nice @user_not_found where I’m from we call that a vanilla slice or a French vanilla slice depending on the type of custard in it.
