Dilemma - to write a review or not to?

A few months ago, I went on a vacation with my family. As I do, I took lots of gorgeous photos of the resort we stayed at with the full intention of sharing as a local guide on my return.

Our stay at the hotel was horrible - we got moldy food (I have photos) and the owners were really rude. On our return, I emailed and got a stinker in return.

I’d still like to go ahead to share my review including the photos of the good and bad but I’m worried that I’ll be blacklisted by Google.

What is the best approach?

Hi @KitchenButterfly ,

Thanks for reaching out.

The best thing to do is to report this business in the Google My Business Community. Feel free to share your honest review and photos on Google Maps, while still keeping the good tone. Local Guides should share their genuine experiences, no matter good or bad.

By the way, I’m changing the topic of your post to How-tos as this is where Local Guides share feedback and ask questions. I’m also going to mark this reply as the solution because it answers your enquiry. Thank you.

Hello @KitchenButterfly ,

As @DeniGu mentioned, Google is looking for honest reviews. The public won’t trust the reviews if they don’t include both the good and the bad. Just be sure you’re writing about your experience as a customer with the business.

With regards to the advice to report them to GMB, this would only be something to do if the company responded to your review in any way inappropriately, such as threats.

Thank you @Flash . They were extremely rude in an email response, sarcastic and very unprofessional. I might do both reviews.
