Just want to make sure that you are aware of the fact that with your Library Card you can either get free passes or considerable discounts to participating Museums, Historical Societies, and other attractions.
The program is called Culture Pass and you can secure your passes through your local Library System. It is as simple as going to your library website and reserve your passes.
Here is a link to the New York Public Library where you can get more information and reserve your passes.
Thanks for sharing this tip, @VBenedict . Do you know if it’s limited to New Yorkers (or those in NYC) or do other cities have this program, too? Would be interested to know how others can use their library cards to access places around the world!
We have the same programs in our Library System here in Westchester County.
Normally Library Systems are Countywide terminus.
If anyone is interested in finding out if this program is sponsored in Connecticut or New Jersey I can try and find out. NY NJ and CT have many symbiotic Cultural relationships.
Similarly New York and LA have many symbiotic programs.
I do know that most Library Systems around the US have similar programs and all is needed is a Library Card.
For those in Library Systems around the rest of Earth, all they have to do is visit their local Public Library and inquire while they get or renew their Library Card. Remember to bring with you two forms of IDs and Proof of Residency.
TIP: Eventhough I now live in Westchester County and belong to a different system I have a New York Public Library Card as well.
