Did anyone else's points drop? (Answers)

Hi fellow guides,

Hope you guys are enjoying your weekend.

I noticed my points dropped by about 800, and I wanted to see if anyone is duplicating this issue.

I was uploading some reviews. Then, I clicked on “Answer questions about a place.” I noticed since my setting for Web & App Activity was off, it wasn’t giving me questions to answers. I turned that setting on and started to answer some questions. I was 48,857.

Halfway through that, my points dropped to 48,118. I went from a Master Fact Finder to Expert Fact Finder badge-wise. Then I cleared cookies and cache, and now I see my points are at 48,090. I see my number of contributions for photos, reviews, etc has stayed the same; however, the contributions I have for answers have decreased.

Let me know if you are seeing that too on your end, or if you have any insight into this issue. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @AZ_2021

I have also noted a reduction in points after answering questions.

Another point I have observed is, the questions repeat after an interval of a week or so. Here I suspect, if there is a variance between the previous and the current answer, points drop. Do you also experience the same?

Now that I think about it I did notice a repeat of some questions so it could be like what you said was happening. :hearts:

Hello @AZ_2021 , you might find the explanation in this helpdesk post.

The setting of the My Activity part of your Google profile can indeed lead to loss of points for answers, and lead to lower levels and badges.

thanks Jan for the clever answer (and the dumb behavior from Google, I enabled max 18 months of activity, and without warning, my answer were cleared to 0).

What the hell is the connection with answers and activity?! To me looks like a bug
