When I started posting in Connect I planned to make a detailed post on Dhaka street foods. Because Dhaka has a huge range of street foods menu. But when I searched in connect, I found many posts on Dhaka street foods. Even though I am planning to present them in my own way. Hope you will like them. As my selections are many, so I am splitting the topic into two parts. Hope you will enjoy. This is part 1. Let’s start.
Kebab Porota - কাবাব রুটি
This is a famous street food in Dhaka. You can get this item in busy areas. It opens selling from the afternoon to late at night. They sell beef kebab, chicken kebab, mutton kebab with porota and sauce. This spicy food is really tasty in the evening. Price is around 40 to 60 Taka. I ate and took photo-video from in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Aloe Vera juice ঘৃতকুমারি রস
Aloe vera juice is sold well during hot seasons. They mix ice-cold water with Aloe vera juice. Price is 15 Taka per glass. This juice is thought healthy to the people who drink it. I took the photo and video from Shewrapara, Dhaka.
Bot-Haleem- বট হালিম:
Bot Haleem is another spicy street food of Dhaka. Normally people in Bangladesh like to eat Haleem during the month of Ramadan. But bot Haleem is available and tasted round the year. Bot means stomach of the cow. This Haleem is made with the bot and various kinds of dals, spices, and oils. After preparing the plate they use sour and cucumber pieces. Hot bot Haleem is really delicious. Per plate 20 Taka. I ate and took the photo from Kazipara, Dhaka.
ButMuri- বুট মুড়ি
But(বুট) means Chickpea and Muri is puffed rice. This is another popular food of Dhaka. This is not only made with chickpea and muri but Piyaju, Beguni, green chili, cucumber, and mustard oil are mixed. So in total, it becomes very tasty. Price per plate 20 Taka. They start selling in the afternoon. I ate and took photo-video from Kazipara, Dhaka
Sweets – মিষ্টি
You will get a lot of sweets and other foods made with sweets in Dhaka Street. I am also very much fond of eating sweets. Price varies depending on the item. I took the taste of Rosgolla at Shahbagh area and took this photo and video. Price starts from 20 taka piece. They start selling in the evening.
Chanachur-চানাচুর
Chanchur mix is also a popular street food of Dhaka. This is mainly sold near the educational institutions. This mix is made with Chanchur, spices, salt, and oil. So hot. Price Taka 10. I ate and took photo-video at Chandrima Uddan, Dhaka.
Packet sweets:
You can get a lot of packet sweets in several places in Dhaka. They mainly sell sweet, sour, and spicy items in packets. Items are normally dry and loved very much by kids. Price starts from Taka 10 and varies from item to item. I ate and took photo-video at Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Boiled Egg সিদ্ধ ডিম:
Boiled eggs are sold only in the evening. People like to eat boiled egg during winter. But you can find some round the year. Eggs of duck, hen, and Koyel. Eggs are sold as a half-boiled and full boil. Price Taka 15 each. To increase taste they add only Bit Lobon. I ate and took photo-video from Kazipara, Dhaka
Cake of Kheer - ক্ষীরের পিঠা:
Cake of Kheer is another tasty and delicious street food item of Dhaka. Kheer is made with milk by boiling it very well. Then the cake is made with kheer and rice flour together. Very tasty. But sweet. Foreigners may not like. Price varies from item to item. Price starts from Taka 20 per piece. . I ate and took photo-video from the University of Dhaka campus.
Note:
- It took me almost 2o days to collect all the photos and videos from where I visited.
- You need to think twice before taking street foods if you are not from Asia or not habituated of eating too much spicy foods.
- I am not sure about the food value of these street foods.
- I have both good and bad experience while I took photo and video. Some sellers were happy while I took the photos and videos of their item. Some not. This is the reality I think.
