When people go to a new place, be it a restaurant, business, or hotel, they want to know what to expect. Some people want to know a lot more than others. I once had a friend with intense social anxiety that would get very nervous about going to new places and would want to know everything about them beforehand. The information about the venue, the atmosphere, the staff, and other details would always help set them at ease and create a sense of security. That sparked a light in me and gave me a reason to start creating detailed reviews about the experience of visiting new places. I wanted to make sure readers would get a full picture of what it’s like to go to X-bar for a drink or Y-hotel for a night. Sometimes people will drive long distances or plan trips around one hotel or restaurant and it’s important for them to know as much as possible about what they can expect to encounter when they reach their destination. This can help them manage their expectations and improve their over-all experience!
Knowing that I could provide useful information to people and help them feel more secure and happy about their decisions, gave me great satisfaction. That is the reason I continue creating long and detailed reviews whenever I visit a new location. That is why I always try to add photos (even though taking them sometimes gives me social anxiety!) as well. I give peace of mind to people that read my reviews.
