Denia, the jewel of the Mediterranean

Hello friends!!

In this post I want to tell you about an amazing and stunning place called Denia.

Denia is a town located in the Mediterranean coast of Spain, half-way from Valencia to Alicante. This is the main town of the comarca of the Marina Blanca and is totally surrounded by sea to the north and by a huge mountain called Montgó to the South which confers Denia incredible views everywhere you see.

In the very middle of the town there a steep hill which a huge castle on the top from you can enjoy an stunning sight of the town. In this castle turists can asist to the representation that the city hall make for knowing the history of the town through actors which embody the main characters who visited the town.

I love this place and I love sharing with all of you know about it because in my opinion Denia is plain and simple one of the most lovely places in the world. It combines all the characteristics that a quaint town must have and I’m proud of having the opportunity of knowing it very well and telling everybody why they must visit it and (what is more important) how they can enjoy their time there.

I’ve visited Denia regularly since I was born as a great part of my family live there forever this fact allows me to know a big range of activities for all ages since the most visited parks to the more wild pubs with live music.

Denia has more than 20 km of beaches which are very easily separated in two kinds, the ones with fine sand a calm waters are located from Denia to the North-West and you can find the ones with rocky shores and more wavy waters to the South-East where the cliffs are growing more and more steep until The Nao Cape one of the most characteristic cape in the Mediterranean coast.

This incredible town has lots of cosy places for having lunch, brunch or a romantic dinner, I strongly recommend the ones that are outside the town because are cosier, but you must be quite informed because there are many of them secretly placed (I’ll try to expand this information in further posts). Every of them has this special reminiscence of the old places of the small towns in the Mediterranean Spain. The main dishes of this area are based in rice prepared in many ways but always around the products of the sea, fish, sellfish, octupus, etc. which local restaurants buy in the “lonja” located in the port where the boats arrive each evening for selling what they have fished during the day, so they are authentically fresh.

And about the nightlife Denia has its own personality too. There people can find an offer for all the ages. From a quite place for having a drink listening to chill-out music to a crowded disco for dancing all the night until the sunshine.

Denia is the town with most festivals according with the Guinness World Records most of them around the fire, Fallas, St. John Bonfires are the more representative of them.

To sum up Denia is a little town but with a huge offer for all kind of tourist, please visit it and let me know your impressions.
