I have a particular penchant for exploring cities to experience the best places to eat and drink. I feel that food and drink are a particular social aspect of life that brings people together in many cultures. The more local and down to earth the place, the more you can see what the real city and culture within the city is. You can start to experience how people communicate with each other, see what they like, see them when they are relaxed. For example if you visit a local food market (not the big touristy ones, but the more local ones) you get a sense of how people live daily in their interactions, you see the wonderful food they consider usual and even unusual. If you have dinner with locals in the Ukraine, you will be treated to vodka, which must be drunk with a toast at every sip. People I find tend to open up in eating and drinking places and I find it great sometimes to just people watch.
In Copenhagen, where I stay for some of my work, I have been making a hobby of exploring and finding great places to have brunch and also more recently I have started to document the Cocktail Bars and Wine Bars I find to be the most interesting and sharing this with all of you is one of the ways I try and assist our Local Guides community! If you enjoy a great #brunch you should check out some of these places in #Copenhagen on the list I created ? here - https://goo.gl/maps/z3tchJz6dNA2
And for those of you who love #Cocktails and #Wine try out these places - https://goo.gl/maps/cJGVtkMSb962 , https://goo.gl/maps/RRPacAnbMK72 and if anyone has any suggestions they are gladly welcome! I’ll keep adding to these lists and look to create some specific posts around how these visits have provided me with greater insight into the community around me and into which I am trying to immerse a little more.
On a slight side note; if there are any Local Guides in Copenhagen, would any be interested in perhaps meeting up sometime as a group and heading for Brunch or some Wine? Write in the comments if you would - perhaps we can make a group Local Story!
