As the Centre Block, which houses the traditional Commons chamber, undergoes a ten-year renovation, the House of Commons currently meets in a temporary Commons chamber in the West Block of the parliament buildings on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
The reception is very modern which contrasted to the perception of it’s gothic revival style on the exterior. The animation projected on the wall introduce the procedure of how to make a law. It’s quite interesting as it seems that if you want to propose a law, you need lots of meeting and submission and voting. More than 5 times is a lot. I am glad that I am not into politic after watching the animation.
I got myself a maple candy as glucose helps to absorb knowledge. And it turned out to be worked and it’s yummy. I want to propose a law that student can eat candy during the classes.
What you must see here is that as it is just a temporary meeting room for the house of common, the architecture just builded a tant in between two buildings. So the interior wall you see here is the exterior of other building. It is a smart approach. If you are interested in architecture, it is a great place to see this excellence architecture.solution.
So what is House of Commons?
The House of Commons of Canada is a component of the Parliament of Canada, along with the Sovereign (represented by the Canadian monarch ) and the Senate. Generally, we name the House of Commons as the Lower House, and, the Senate as the Upper House.
The House of Commons is the only democratically elected body of the Parliament, while the Senate is assigned by the Canadian monarch. Seats in the House of Commons are distributed roughly in proportion to the population of each province and territory. The lower of the two houses making up the parliament, the House of Commons in practice holds far more power than the upper house, the Senate. Although the approval of both Houses is necessary for legislation, the Senate very rarely rejects bills passed by the commons (though the Senate does occasionally amend bills).
