Dark Sky Reserve, Lake Tekapo, New Zealand, first time trying star photography, using a new camera. It was fun getting the correct ISO, and time setting.
Great photos @StephenNewZealand . Must be cold there at the moment. What new camera are you using and what ISO and time setting did you find best?
Hey @StephenNewZealand ,
I like the third photo of the night sky and the one at the lake - on both of them the sky is had to describe and very beautiful! Thumbs up for experimenting with the new camera!
Can you share a bit more information about the church as well, I am interested to learn more about all these places?
Thanks for sharing @StephenNewZealand . Tekapo is a beautiful place, a UNESCO protected area, with very strict rules on artificial light. The town and surrounding area is a Dark Sky Reserve.
Camera was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000.
I used a range of setting by varying the ISO and time. The general rule was the higher the ISO the less time needed take the picture. But the longer the time the Earth rotation effect the picture with the movement of the Stars. Used a manual mode on the camera and a tripod. Try nights with out the moon being visible as this reflect to much light.
For one picture the settings were f2.8, 20 seconds, ISO 3200
