Dajaj Madhbi-Traditional Yemeni Dish

Madhbi is a traditional Arabian rice dish with meat that is gently cooked. There are several Yemeni restaurants in Saudi Arabia that provide this traditional culinary dish. Unlike Mandi, the chicken in Madhbi is grilled rather than cooked in a tandoor, a type of clay oven. Madhbi rice is generally smooth and flavorful, and the chicken is juicy and delicate. For one individual, the portions are rather enormous. This meal is usually eaten with the hands, and floor sitting is preferred.

This dish is from Yemen and is often served with lamb or chicken. The dish has grown in popularity throughout the Arabian Peninsula. Basmati rice is typically used in its preparation, and a variety of Arabian species are added to enhance the flavor. To give a unique touch to this dish, some restaurants add raisins, roasted cashew nuts, and almonds. In Arab culture, this meal is also served during special occasions such as weddings and feasts. Here’s a list of places in my neighborhood that serve scrumptious Madhbi dishes:
