2020 has been tough, but there is still a lot to be grateful for. My sister @Velvel and I started this year with a short trip to Singapore. On January 2020, we were still able to fly abroad. Everything was normal. Until then in late January, exactly two weeks later after we came back from Singapore, the Covid-19 outbreak began and has changed the way we live.
We went to Singapore to watch a music concert. Also, there is a bakery I have been wanting to try for a long time. Actually, the shows were scheduled to take place in Singapore (10-11 January) and Malaysia (29 February). Because of the pandemic, the show in Malaysia was postponed to an unknown date. Luckily, we took the right decision to choose Singapore, otherwise we might lose the chance to watch our long-awaited concert, and also to visit that bakery
So, what’s so special about the bakery? The name is Tiong Bahru Bakery. They sell traditional French pastries, particularly the croissants are among the most popular items. The croissants are handmade, never frozen, and baked fresh every two hours with French flour, French butter, using traditional French techniques. I saw so many good reviews for their high quality croissants all over food blogs and Instagram. My sister has already visited the bakery in early 2019 and she also recommended this place to me.
Tiong Bahru Bakery has 6 branches in Singapore. We visited its first store at Eng Hoon Street one morning before heading to the Singapore National Stadium where the concert took place. We had Apple Chausson and Green Tea Almond Croissant for a light breakfast. The apple chausson has sauteed apple fillings inside with sugary on top, while the green tea almond croissant has green tea cream inside with almond slivers and green tea powder on top. Crisp layers and fragrant buttery smell on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Definitely the best croissants I have ever had!

A croissant is best eaten fresh out from the oven, but not everyone comes in the right time. So it is very recommended to request a quick heat up before serving to get back the crispiness and enjoy it to the fullest! Yum!
There is no doubt that Tiong Bahru Bakery is one of the best bakeries in Singapore. Their croissant is the best food I have eaten in 2020 so far. I will never forget the taste, and also the travel memories I had earlier this year. So do give this place a visit if you are looking for the best croissant in Singapore.
