Crisp Fried Stuffed Olives #CommunityFoodFightChallenge

Link to Cascal on Google Maps

Crisp Fried Stuffed Olives is a great side dish in bars. This is one of my favorite side dish in my favorite bar ‘Cascal’ in Mountain View, CA. This goes very well with Cocktails or Beers. Olives are stuffed with Cheese, breaded and deep fried.

Here is a recipe for these Crisp Fried Stuffed Olives I found online. Hope this turns out as good as the one they serve in Cascal.

Ingredients:

pitted green olives, rinsed and dried thoroughly
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
Vegetable oil, for frying

Gorgonzola cheese, at room temperature
Ricotta cheese, at room temperature

Mix the cheeses and fill them in Olive. Place the flour in a small bowl. Pour the beaten egg in another small bowl and the bread crumbs in a third small bowl. Dredge the olives in the flour. Using a slotted spoon, remove the olives and place in the bowl with the beaten egg. Coat the olives with the egg and transfer to the bowl of bread crumbs. Coat the olives with the bread crumbs.

Fry the olives, in batches, for 30 to 45 seconds until golden brown. Drain the fried olives on paper towels. Cool for 5 minutes.

Hello @jayasimha78 ,

Thank you for sharing these photos and recipe with us! Personally, it looks very original to me as I never came across fried stuffed olives!

Did you make these ones on your own, or you had them somewhere at a bar as a side dish?

As a person who doesn’t like acid and sour food that much, I guess the mix between olives and the cheese that you’ve mentioned creates the perfect balance!

Here is something that I would really like to try! I hope I will be able to make them as good looking as the ones on the photos.

@BorrisS These are from the Bar, where I tried as starters. I have not come across this in other bars I have visited in California so far. When I looked up for recipe looks like a popular Italian dish. I am looking forward to making this at home.

Hi @jayasimha78 ,

simple but delicious appetizer! I love olives and have tried crisp fried as well and they are delicious, especially combined with a nice cold beer for example  .

The photos are stunning as usual, they make the olives even more delicious  . Thank you for sharing the receipt, never tried to make them home myself, perhaps I should try once.

This is a simple yet yummy food. It is indeed a great companion with cocktail or beer.

Thanks for sharing the place as well. Cascal seems like an interesting restaurant. Added to my “want to go” list if I’m in this area again
