Being a Local Guide is surely a lot of fun! I would say the most interesting thing that I’ve ever done as a local guide is creating a list.
I remember the first time when I posted a list on Google Maps. It was one year ago. With the list titled “7 Exotic Asian Restaurants in Hsinchu”, I aimed to recommend all the visitors or local people to the most delicious and worth-visiting restaurants I have went on the list.
After I finished adding the places into this list, I felt surprised. There is always a rumor that Hsinchu is a “delicacy desert” lack of delicious food. However, through creating this special list, I just realized that how can I fight them back. Hsinchu is definitely NOT a delicacy desert. Not only is Hsinchu a beautiful city full of wonders, but also is it a city with different styles of restaurants blending different cultural colors together.
One day, an exciting thing happened to me. I was going to share my friends about the Local Guides program, so I opened the Google Maps app, and clicked on the list. To my surprise, it had hit more than 1000 views! I am very happy about this because I know that my list is helping people or at least it had been successfully introducing the good points in my hometown, Hsinchu.
