Hello everybody,
My name is David Terron, I am a Local Guide level 8 on Google Maps and in this postI want to tell you about how important it is to create quality lists with the best local food restaurants to help other Local Guides.
Introduce Myself on Local Guides Connect
For my, the lists in Google Maps is a practical and fast way to have all our favorite places (or less apreciated ) grouped in the same space and why not, to publish the best restaurants where you can taste the local gastronomy.
We can create lists of everything we want; our favorite restaurants, the coolest shops of the city, the most beautiful parks, libraries, organic food stores, the most outstanding monuments in my city, the supermarkets in my neighborhood…
If a place exists in Google Maps, we can include it in a list!
The great thing about these lists is that they can be private or public. If we decide to make them public, other Local Guides will be able to follow them and access to all the content. We can also decide whether they can be modified.
The lists are very helpful for local people, but they can also be a very practical way to help other Local Guides visiting our regions to get to know the local cook.
Creating lists with the best restaurants or small street foods where tasting authentic local cook is one way to help others Local Guides to take good decisions.
In my country (Spain )one of the most internationally known specialties and symbol of the Mediterranean diet is
Paella
. Originally from the region of Valencia, Paella is based on rice and can be cooked in many ways, but the most traditional is the one made with olive oil, certain local vegetables, chicken and rabbit meat. Other highly appreciated paellas are rice and fish.
When they come to my country, all tourists want to eat Paella, but sometimes it is not easy to find the places that prepare this recipe respecting tradition and local ingredients.
For this reason, I have decided to create this list with the best restaurants to enjoy, not only eating authentic paella, but other specialties of the Mediterranean Diet.
MY LISTThe best restaurants to eat Paella
in Valencia
As it’s the case in every country, region or town around the world, there are gastronomic specialties associated with each one of them, which combine culinary techniques, local products and good know-how, which over time have converted many of them in world references.
Surely no one would like to leave one of these countries (to name a few) without trying one of their specialties:
Italy: pizza, a thousand ways to prepare pasta, its magnificent ice creams or a good coffee.
India: Buknu, Gujiya, chaat, daal ki kachauri, yalebi, imarti, some pickles (known as achar), thali, tandoori chicken masala chai.
France: gastronomic reference in the whole world. Among its specialties Cassoulet, baeckeoffe, flammekueche or onion soup.
Japan: Sushi, Onigiri, Sashimi, Miso soup, Udon, Soba, Ramen, BentĹŤ
Russia: Pelmeni, Shashlyk, Borsch, Uja, Shchi
If you also have created lists with the best places to eat local food and want to share them with the rest of the Local Guides community, do not hesitate to leave the link of your lists in the comments.
The criteria that I have used to be sure that this list can help other Local Guides to choose a good place to eat authentic paella in Valencia are:
- Personal experience.
- Places recognized by a lot of the local population.
- Only restaurants that are rated above 4 out of 5 in Google Maps.
- Include restaurants with high or low prices.
But I have to tell you a secret, the best paellas I have eaten are those that I have been able to cook for friends and family.
