In one of my previous posts I mentioned that I have only been able to leave my home a handful of times since the middle of March, due to Covid-19. I am 62 years old and have asthma and COPD. Also, unfortunately, in my area, people have not been compliant with wearing face masks and social distancing. So I have taken some walks near my home, but my husband does our errands. Louisiana currently has become more restrictive, requiring everyone to wear face masks in public, but again, many people do not agree with this mandate.

New Orleans current restrictions are even more stringent, with more businesses closed.

So, since I am housebound most of the time, I have been doing a LOT of artwork. One of things I enjoy is sketching with my apple pencil on my ipad. This is a time lapse video of my sketching my beloved cat, Honeysuckle Potpourri who passed away several years ago. I then matted it and framed it in my home.
I also did other sketches, such as the Louisiana state bird, the
and even my friend, and awesome Google Local Guide @KashifMisidia
Additionally, I have been drawing a web cartoon called “Popes and Sweetpea” about a girl and her sphynx cat trying to survive the pandemic. Here are a few examples of that
I also made several sculptures This one I carved from a large block of clay. I call it “Consequences”. I cut the banner from leather, and burned the name of the sculpture into the leather with pyrography
and hand painted it.
It is my comment on what the human race has done to the Earth, especially the oceans by dumping trash, the animals as well, the trees and forests. Now we are living with the consequences. As the foliage nears the human race it becomes darker and turns to black and we become gray. Our health suffers. The pink represents Covid-19.
I put it in an acrylic box because we have boxed ourselves into this situation.
I have also been doing what is called repainting dolls. This is where you completely remove all of the original paint, like eyes, lips etc. And then use pastels to repaint them again and seal them. I also remove all the hair and give them new eyeballs, eyelashes, wigs, as well as new outfits. The type of dolls I use are Disney Animator Dolls.
Here is a video I posted about it.
And my latest endeavor is trying to learn the Spanish language online!
As you can see, I’ve tried to keep busy when I can’t leave the house due to Covid-19, in addition to doing edits on Google Maps. I’d love to know if you took up a new hobby, or continued one you already had!
