Salutations fellow local guides!
I have something of a troubling question that I would like to ask around about.
I have been a local guide for five years and in that time, admittedly there have been off and on times. I have just recently crossed over into level seven! Man it took while for that jump! Now, due to the jump from 6 to 7 I became a little more curious about the guide community So, l came out of the desert and walked right into this huge daunting rock city called “localguidesconnect”.
There I was, dirty, torn clothes, beat up sandals, long scraggly hair and trailing behind me were a couple of dirty goats and a skinny cow, oh, don’t forget about my special staff. (Ever notice in Hollywood films they always have at least two goats and a skinny cow?)
Slowly, I gaze up higher and higher with my eyes and slowly coming into focus was a kind of nirvana! (Spoiler! It was the Local guides connect site.)
Getting back on topic, After a couple of days poking around the site and exploring some of the links and some of the tools, I tripped up on the page where you can check your contributions there in the site. As I shouted “ jumping spiders”!!! I filled with the anticipation of gloating over my mountain of work the last five years.

Eagerly I rushed into my contributions page…. Visions of a huge mound of gold as high as the ceiling, ran through my head. Of course the gold would in fact be photos and texts and my most brilliant, yet witty and pithy reviews awaited me. Imagining myself lounging right in the middle of the huge mound of treasure I was pulled into the page. Such joy, such satisfaction mingle with some very innocent plans tol await anyone, young or old, to come near my loot, For, if they dared they would be smooted with my fiery breath, …. The result of bags & bags of stale hot fries and tons of Mountain Dew.
Imagine my complete and utter dismay when all I saw were two old photos i posted around five years ago and otherwise a completely barren page…… cut to the classic scene of a tumbleweed gliding by.
I’m not trying to toss some grits into the cake batter here but. I do have several hundred photos posted, numerous edits, well over 100 long form reviews, days and days worth of questions that I’ve answered in the app. Which makes me wonder if somehow there is problem with my account??
Okay, not to go all “Karen” met “Kevin” creating the unholy spawn…… “Kyle”, yet… my maps app currently runneth over. With goodies. There”s hours worth of scrolling in my contributions, but in the local guides site, “it’s just us tumbleweeds and roadkill.”
Of course any member of the “Karen.Kevin.Kyle” clan would immediately demand to speak to the manager, but I don’t Roll like that. I am just curious about why or how it happened and as a result, have I been missing out on something?
