Hi Local Guides!
Today’s photo in my series is from Irazú Volcano which is a National Park in Costa Rica, this photo was taken on an old crater of this volcano, which now is from where you can take a look into the active part of the volcano. I visit this National Park almost once a year because it is close to where I live and we like the path to get there, full of nature and fresh air. This photo was taken last january, when I stayed in there for a week as a part of a volunteering program I’m part of. Since I was staying there, I got to enter the park before 8 am when it was still cold and got to see this amazing view. Most of you may think this is snow, but it isn’t, we don’t get snow in Costa Rica! So, what is it? (you may ask). It is just the humidity from the air that was crystallized in the ash by the cold weather during dawn. This photo brings me back so many good memories from that week I spent there and this one is really special because it is the closest you can get to snow in Costa Rica, it is a phenomenon that only occurs during a few days in a year and not everybody gets to see it. And after a few minutes of admiring this amazing view, the sun started to shine, the ice melted and that was it.
So, did you tought this was snow?
I love the photo because there is a contrast of colors: greens from the plants, gray from the ash and white from the ice.
What do you think about it?
