Costa Rica photo series: Laguna de Hule

To continue my photo series about Costa Rica, today I wanted to show you a small lagoon called Laguna de Hule (Rubber Lagoon), I think the name comes from the color of the water. In my country, we don’t have a lot of lagoons and the ones we have are not that known, the most famous ones are the ones that were built as a part of hydroelectric program but Laguna de Hule has a volcanic origin. From the top you can get a beautiful view of the water and the forest and you can walk for about 45 minutes to get to the bottom, but there’s not much to see there. This photo is from december, 2019 when I visited this beautiful place.

What a beautiful Vista @IrenePiedra

Is the lagoon seasonal?

Thanks for sharing it here with us on connect.

Best regards

Hi @Austinelewex

No, the lagoon is there all year long. Actually, I don’t think any of the lagoons in Costa Rica are seasonal, they only change the depth a little bit during the “dry season”.

Hi @IrenePiedra

Thanks for sharing. Absolutely amazing view! I love how green it is and so much nature in your country. I have read that Costa Rica is one of the best countries to live in? :slightly_smiling_face:

You’re so lucky to have the sea and this beautiful mountains and forest around you. It’s so important to be able to get away from the busy city. Do you go there often? Do you live in the capital? I would love to see more cool places from Costa Rica. Keep in mind, you can also add Google Maps links to the locations you’re referring to so we can check them quicker.

Thanks so much. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @DanniS

I know right, it is great to have so much nature, everyday we’re trying to be more conscious about it and take care of all that we have. Did you know that only in Costa Rica we have 6% of all the biodiversity in the planet?

And yes, it is a great place to live in not only because of the nature, whe have a very good education system in relation with other countries in the region and we’re one of the few countries in the world that doesn’t have an army.

That is one of the things that I love about Costa Rica, the variety of places to visit. I try to get out of the city whenever I can, mostly during vacations but sometimes I like to visit some place in the middle of the semester to take away the stress from the university, the place I visit the most is Portasol (which I wrote a post about it), but of course I like to explore other parts of the country.

I live in Tres Ríos which is 10 minutes away from where the capital starts but the center of the capital (San José downtown) is 25 minutes from my home, but I don’t visit it that much. But the whole province of San José is really big and there is where I study, go out with my friends, go shopping, etc.

Thank you for the suggestion of adding the links to Google Maps, I’ve done it in other posts and kind of forgot for these ones, I’ll edit them so you and others can find the place.

And again, thank you for your interest in Costa Rica, I’m glad you´re liking my posts about it!
