After his death there was a dispute between Muslims and Sikhs, on their last rites,Muslim considered him as a Muslims and according to them Baba Ji also performed Hajj in holy city of Macca Since the non-Muslim’s admission is forbidden in the sanctuary of Haram and his brother has testified to perform Hajj.According to Sikhs and Hindus, the last rites of Baba Ji will be performed according to their birth religion. At the same time, according to history, his body disappeared and flowers appeared in his place. Then the flowers and the the cloth on their body were divided into two parts - Muslims buried them. While the Sikh and Hindus adopted the Kriya karm method - Both the tomb and the Samadhi of Baba Nanak were constructed. And this place was named Kartarpur Sahib.A Gurdwara was Constructed here in memory of Baba Guru Nanak Ji.The Gurdwara is located 120 km from Lahore, on the Indian border of Shakar Garh, district Narowal. Maharaja Ranjit Singh constructed a large shrine here. Maharaja Patiala constructed the present building of Gurdwara between 1920 and 1929,After the migration of the Sikhs in 1947, this Gurdwara became deserted - because of its proximity to the border, A few people used to visit here.
This Gurdwara is one of the most important Gurdwara for Sikhs community.Due to strict visa restrictions and Conflict between India and Pakistan It would be very difficult for Sikh community to come in Pakistan to visit this Gurdwara frequently. So they used to see the Gurdwara with telescope on the Dera Baba Nanak from Indian side Border. For ease of Sikhs, the Government of Pakistan started work on a Corridor which was inaugurated on November 9, 2019.
Visitors can come to this Gurdwara through this corridor without visa and any difficulty
After the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor its entire scenario has changed,Now it has become the largest Gurdwara in the world. When I visited there Sikhs were very happy with the inauguration of this corridor And thanked a lot to Government of Pakistan.I also saw tears of happiness in the eyes of many Sikhs
