Cooking in times of Coronavirus

What a different Holy Week!

As you may know Costa Rica is a mainly Catholic country (if you didn’t know, now you know). And for Catholic people, this is like the most important week of the year, but due to the worldwide situation of Coronavirus, every tradition had to be changed this year. Our religious traditions are taking place virtually leading us to have more time indoors with our family.

Many people would ask themselves: what am I supposed to do with so much free time? Well, in my case, I decided to try new recipes for my fam, as I believe that cooking to someone is one of the loveliest gestures.

My grandma and aunts have the traditions to bake bread for Holy Week and we gather to eat it, but this time each of us had to stay in our houses, so I decided I would try to bake the bread myself. The first time the result was awful! But I wouldn’t let a recipe beat me, so I gave it another try, and this time, IT WORKED! I’m not a master at baking bread, but I’ll improve!

Other recipe I’ve tried more than once was the macarons, I even took a class with one of my bros, but it never worked. This time I decided to be as cautious as possible. And a Holy Week miracle happened: for the first time, I could make the macarons by myself! They were terrific!

It’s a fact I love cooking and baking, but sometimes I look for healthier recipes. This time, as I am also a fan of chocolate, I found some sugarless and flourless brownies. At the beginning I thought that wouldn’t turn out good, but they did! But I topped the brownie with vanilla ice cream, so… Goodbye healthy recipe.

Well, maybe you’re tired or bored of staying indoors. Everyone is facing different circumstances, look for something you’ve always wanted to try, but you didn’t have time for. We’ll get over this, even better, even stronger!

With love,
