I am Bilal from Lahore, Pakistan and I am a Level 7, Google Local Guide.
What brought my interest in being a Local Guide was that in my country , where the population is over 200 million, a massive majority is unaware about their nearby resources and crucial places in state of a medical emergency. These may include hospitals, pharmacies or clinics.
People often resort to travel large distances for their need as they are unaware about the locality of spots within their close radius. It is mostly a waste of time and obviously stressful for the patient in need. I have experienced this hands on myself on multiple occasions and wanted to change that using Google as a platform.
With us Local Guides pinning location it has become far simpler and easier for people to get easy access to treatments and also within time and proximity. Especially in places that are far from the city center and not urbanized.
The contribution by us Local Guides in Pakistan has also resulted in helping travelers and tourists learn about unexplored places and see the real image of Pakistan, its tradition and natural landscapes.
A lot of small businesses have benefited by being present on Google Maps with help of Local Guides and it has increased awareness and developed towns and market places by producing local everyday clientele for them.
Thanks to Google, Local Guides like myself are able to not only pin locations and built communities, but also share visual experiences through pictures and adding reviews to let people know about best localities.
And among so many other people I am also grateful for this opportunity that Google has provided me with. I look forward to contributing more and I am proud to call myself a Google Local Guide.
