For the longest time I would go to a place. Be there for let’s say a few hours, and usually within a few hours after leaving, the contribute page on google maps would show that location and the option to review the location.
This is no longer happening.
Now, every-time I go to “contribute” I get locations for places that I had either been to or searched for two months ago. I really appreciated that every-time I went somewhere I could go to the contribute landing page and quickly find and review the location. My location settings are on but I have no idea how to turn on the setting that will allow me to always have GMaps put the name of a location and automatically populate the contribute page. Any assistance would be great! Also, if you’re also experiencing this chime in!
@Jskrilla Yes, getting the suggestion for the places to review is a good feature. For this case, I think your Location History is off. Read this post to know how you can turn on the Location History Manage your Location History
Hope this helps.
Hey Saif,
Thanks for chiming in! I had actually thought that was the problem as well, but I have my location settings turned on. So I think that’s likely not the problem here
Any other reasons you can think of?
@Jskrilla First thing, Location History and Location settings are different. Curious, have you changed your phone recently?
Hey!
So I’m aware that there is a difference between the two. I can confirm that I have my location on for Google Services. I don’t recall making any major changes to my device, however I believe that I had deleted some browser history on Chrome recently. However, I don’t recall selecting any setting that wouldn’t save information going forward. Is it possible that clearing my browser history on chrome could be causing the issue?
@Jskrilla Clearing your browser history on chrome is not causing the issue. The issues seem complicated. I suggest you tag a moderator, here or here, for checking this issue.
@SaifIS yeah, when I select “Google location settings” page it goes directly to an “edit name” page (not what I was expecting at all!). Passing along kudos your way for trying to help! Much appreciated!
Hey mods,
@GeorgesHR, @KlaudiyaG, @NadyaPN, @MarinS, @Ivi_Ge
Mind helping me out here?
@Jskrilla I see you have mentioned all of them. I suggest you tag only one or two of them.
@SaifIS yeah, still getting used to this community.
@Jskrilla You can edit the previous comment and leave only the three you just mentioned. And edit this latest comment and remove these names. Or remove all of the names from the previous comment. Because they will still get notification from the previous comment.

Hi @Jskrilla
First of all please a small tip to you: please note that, to activate a tag (to send a notification) you have to type the @ symbol then, in the pop-up, the username of the person you want to mention. This activate the tagging procedure. If you copy a list of usernames from another post.
Now, back to your issue:
Have you checked your notification setting on Google Maps app?
Tap on the hamburger menu, then:
Settings > Notification > People and places > Notification from chronology
and
Settings > Notification > Your contributions than activate the notification you want to receive
Hey @ErmesT ,
Thanks for the advice. Still learning the platform, so I appreciate all the tips!
In regards to your suggestion:
–>Settings > Notification > People and places > Notification from chronology
No such verbiage regarding “chronology” exists. I can confirm that I have all the notification’s turned on, so likely that’s not the solution.
–>Settings > Notification > Your contributions than activate the notification you want to receiv
All are turned on.
Any other possible explanations are appreciated.
Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback @Jskrilla
Yes, maybe my translation is wrong (my app is in Italian) so probably in the English version the text is different from what I translated.
In any case, if all your switches are ON, the reason should be different. Tagging @GeorgesHR for a feedback from Google
