Conserve Local Food by Sharing it

Globalization is on the way, there is no way to stop it. It has some good effects, as well as the bad one. When talking about culinary, we all know that the variety of food has been sharply increased from the effect of Globalization. Maybe 30 years ago, not all indonesian people can choose hamburger, pizza, french fries, spaghetti, lasagna, as their preferred meal. But now you can just enjoy the taste of the all those foods just by saying it. Just order it from the online service and voila! a delicious meal is on your hand. On the other hand, this convenience of enjoying foreign food has a slight concern to the world of local food.

Lets take an example. Kerak Telor (egg crust) is one of the most popular jakarta/batavia typical or traditional food

. Other is ketoprak (rice cake with vermicelli and peanut sauce). Nowadays, people in jakarta will choose fast food over kerak telor or Ketoprak as their lunch. We can say the exact same things in other place like central java, only few people will choose Nasi Gandul (Gandul Rice)or Nasi Liwet (Liwet Rice) as their daily meal.

As a person who loves local food, i feel i have to do something about this. I want to show people that we do have all kinds of delicious food. I want to remind people that this local food is going to be forgotten. Let’s revive the love of local culinary.

By sharing on the social media, including google maps, i want to tell people that the local food is still alive, but they need some attention. I am not disallow someone from eating what they want to eat, but i just want to rebuild the trust to local industry. I hope by sharing some places i can bring people back to the traditional style.
