“This post is a response to the #ConnectTurns5Challenge (week 4) by @Velvel . I hope that you will find it useful and also please do join in the fun of this challenge! You can find out more about the challenge in the link above.” cit. @AdrianLunsong
I had just started using the Ricoh Theta S (received with Google’s loan program in 2017) and I started practicing creating a Tour in the Abbeys as going at certain times it was possible to find them empty (here in Italy it is customary that churches open at dawn and close at sunset).
It was the first few years that spherical cameras were affordable for everyone, and I was very excited about this photographic novelty!
To date I have reached about 1500 spherical photos published, and for each photo I am always fascinated by how easy it is to immerse yourself completely in the shot: you turn inside the photo and it seems to be really there!
Over time I learned to better manage all the functions of these cameras, adjusting the various functions by hand and also using them to make beautiful 360 ° videos.
I also learned to use face blurring or personal identification plates as per Google policies (very important for privacy).
This first post also served to break the ice here on Connect, as I found many other LocalGuides with a common passion and from which day we started exchanging tips and ideas!
It isn’t easy to find our first post, but it is interesting that for many the first post was really meaningful. Wonder why I missed the post when you wrote it, so you had to wait more than four years to receive my like in there
Niiiiiice!! @davidhyno So far all our first posts seem to line up very well with our passions! Makes sense as well! I notice in your Street View tour that you used a tripod and possibly taking your photos remotely or on a timer? I used to put the Ricoh on a stable surface (I don’t usually have a tripod with me), set the timer, press the button and then run to hide just so I’m not in the view. Then I got lazy and now I just hold up the Ricoh above my head (with a selfie stick) to take the shot.
There’s always a hidden gem or two thousand to be found in Connect @ErmesT ! I know you are more all-seeing than most of us but I do sometimes find that if I blink, I will miss a hundred posts or so!
Your first post in Connect is amazing. Creating virtual tours are one of my passions and I really like how you have created the virtual tour above and the place looks great. I am glad that I got the chance to meet you at Connect Live 2018.
I have always used a tripod and remote shooting: by doing so I can first of all place the camera in the most suitable place and then I can hide mysefl in the shadows (like the villain of horror movies )!
Once I placed the camera on top of a suitably modified bike helmet: I need this if I have to do trail tours, where I can walk quietly without stopping every time to place the tripod!
You are completely right @Velvel !
I also realized that all of my posts have a lot of text to read: I like to tell what I experienced or what prompted me to create a post on Connect.
And that’s why I thank everyone for reading the entire post at the end !
When you are going to use a 360 ° camera, here you will find a lot of advice !!
What a pleasure to hear from you!
I have wonderful memories of that Connect 2018: I especially remember that every morning for breakfast I came to your table where the entire India team was (the legendary @ProfArunCM , then Archit Ojha, @MahabubMunna Vandana @vvbellur@NareshDarji ) … I was practically the only foreigner but I felt at home!
Those were the memories which are close to my heart and sharing our thoughts during the breakfast, taking photos and everything feel like a dream. Really hoping to meet you soon.
