Local Guide Connect is turning Seven, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with an exciting challenge that aims to make a positive impact on our environment and local communities. As a dedicated Local Guides, you have already shown your commitment to sharing your knowledge and experiences on Google Maps. Now, it’s time to take it a step further! Join us in this remarkable challenge, where together, we can create a lasting change and leave a greener footprint.
Challenge Overview:
To mark the seventh year of Local Guide Connect, we have curated a challenge that invites you to partake in seven different activities. These activities encompass a range of initiatives that contribute to environmental sustainability, local business support, and enhancing the Google Maps ecosystem.
Clean Seven Areas:
Start by making a visible impact in your community. By cleaning up these seven areas, you’ll be making a positive impact on your community and the environment, while also celebrating Local Guides Connect’s birthday in a meaningful way. Encourage fellow Local Guides, friends, and family to join in. It not only promotes community involvement but also contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment. Here are seven areas where you can do
- Local Park: Choose a park in your community that could benefit from cleaning activities. Focus on picking up litter, removing debris, and tidying up the green spaces.
- Beach or Riverfront: If you have a beach or a riverfront nearby, remove trash and plastic waste. This helps protect marine life and keeps the water bodies clean.
- Neighborhood Streets: Invite your near fellow Local Guides, friends, and family to join in Encourage participants to pick up litter, sweep sidewalks, and maintain cleanliness in their immediate surroundings.
- School or College Campus: Collaborate with local schools or colleges to clean their campuses. This will not only benefit the students and staff but also create a cleaner environment for everyone.
- Nature Trails or Hiking Areas: If you have nature trails or hiking areas in your vicinity, you can remove litter, maintain the trails, and ensure the natural surroundings remain pristine.
- Garden: If your community has a garden or green space you can clean that.
- Public Squares or Plazas: Public squares and plazas often attract a lot of foot traffic, leading to litter accumulation. Such areas to ensure they remain clean and inviting for residents and visitors.
Together, we can make a significant difference in keeping our surroundings clean and beautiful.
Add Seven New Places on Google Maps:
Expand the reach of Google Maps by contributing to its ever-growing database. Discover and add seven new places that are currently missing from Google Maps. It could be a Pharmacy, Diagonistic center, local café, a hidden gem of a hiking trail, Such shops selling traditional food or an interesting art gallery. Help fellow explorers find these hidden treasures and make navigation easier for everyone.
Make a list of seven different places on Google Maps:
Utilise your knowledge and expertise to create seven curated lists on Google Maps. These lists could be themed around wheelchair accessible restaurants, parks where children can play spontaneously, Women friendly parks, Such shops sell seedlings & tree planting accessories , historical landmarks, shopping destinations, or any other categories that resonate with your local community. Share your insights, recommendations, and personal favourites to help others explore and discover the best of your city.
Write Detailed and Helpful Seven Reviews:
Reviews play a crucial role in guiding people’s choices. Take the time to craft detailed and informative reviews for at least seven places you visit. Share your experiences, highlight exceptional service, and provide tips or recommendations to fellow Local Guides and the wider Google Maps community. Your reviews can influence decisions and make a positive impact in your community.
Plant Seven Trees:
Contributing to environmental conservation is vital in our fight against climate change. Take part in local tree-planting initiatives or create your own mini-afforestation project. Plant seven trees in your neighborhood or collaborate with local organizations that focus on reforestation efforts. By doing so, you’ll be actively contributing to a greener and healthier planet.
Reduce Seven Single-Use Items:
Embrace sustainable living by reducing single-use items in your daily life. Identify seven single-use items that you commonly use, such as plastic bags, water bottles, or disposable utensils, and replace them with eco-friendly alternatives. Encourage others to adopt sustainable practices by sharing your journey and providing tips on reducing waste.
Support Seven Local Small Businesses:
Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. Show your support by pledging to patronise seven local small businesses. Whether it’s a family-owned café, a boutique shop, Women Entrepreneurs, Grocery store, restaurant, Clothing store or a neighbourhood bookstore, make an effort to spend your money where it matters. Spread the word about these businesses through Google Maps reviews and social media to help them thrive.
