I recently read a post by a friend who had created a list on Google of all of the places that are open in her neighbourhood during lockdown. I thought it was an inspired idea, so I decided to create one of my own for the shops that are open in the Earl’s Court & Chelsea area.
Essential shops open during Covid-19 - Earl’s Court & Chelsea London
This list includes local food stores, as well as pharmacies and the odd ‘non-essential’ shop that remains open. Many of these food stores are operating as usual during the weekdays and are fully stocked on the essentials like fresh fruits, eggs, milk, bread, canned foods, as well as toilet paper and cleaning products. Many of the restaurants on the list are open for delivery via Deliveroo & Just Eat.
Surprisingly, one thing I have noticed when I have been on my daily outing is that a few independent wine stores are still open. I don’t believe they are an ‘essential shop’, but I am sure that some would beg to differ. That isn’t to say, I haven’t been partial for a drink or two during the virus (I am now entering my fourth week in quarantine)!
These times have certainly proved to me the community spirit here. The first Thursday when everyone came to their windows and front doors at 8pm to cheer for the NHS was a surreal moment for me, one, that I will never forget. The cheers, the claps, the smiles. It was amazing to show and witness the appreciation towards our NHS and all of the amazing people out their who are working so hard during this unprecedented time to save and protect the lives of all of our loved ones.
I hope you find this list useful. And, if you are in isolation and are in need of a hand in the Chelsea area, please feel free to get in touch.
