When I went to Colorado Springs, Colorado for my first time last year as part of a business trip, I intentionally booked a later flight home so I could explore the area. I ended up hiking the Manitou Incline, a former cable car trail comprised of 2,744 steps ascending 2,000 feet in less mile. The trail certainly tested my limits but I made it to the top to enjoy an incredible view. Immediately after that hike, I went to Garden of the Gods; a nearby collection of incredible sandstone formations. On another business trip just last month, I was sure to again hike up the Manitou Incline, explore a new parts of Garden of the Gods during a 3 mile run, and drive up Pike’s Peak for my first time.
A couple months ago, my wife and I took our four children to Oahu, Hawaii for a family reunion. Our entire group of 11 adults and six small children used Google Reviews to discover the beautiful Manoa Falls. While there, I enjoyed SCUBA diving a ship wreck just off of Waikiki. I also hiked the Koko Crater Stairs, a steep climb similar to that of the Manitou Incline. Of course, each experience was beautiful and left me feeling rejuvenated by the earth’s great beauty.
I’ve always tried to never take my good health for granted. Growing up in Los Angeles, my local scout troop kept me active. Whether I was biking down the coast in Malibu, snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada mountains, or rappelling Stoney Point, I learned to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the world around me. As an adult, I continued this pattern of taking advantage of each opportunity to explore the world around me and to connect with nature. Often, it was Google reviews that inspired and encourage me make a new experience.
