CONNECT TO CONNECT NOT FOR BADGES

First, I am writing this post because of my friend; ErmesT, who is a Connect Moderator. Please read **ErmesT’**s post here.

Many people have gotten Ermes :smirk:  over the issue of ‘overtagging for likes’ such that he made a Post about it. I have decided to lend him my support.

Have you ever wondered why some Local Guides have a lot of ‘Kudos and Comments’ on their Posts and you don’t?

While it is not unusual to find the Google Moderator, Googlers, Google Administrator or Connect Moderators getting a lot of kudos and comments, I am talking about regular Local Guides like you.

The Simple reason/trick/tip is this;

They Connect and do so enthusiastically!

I will give some example of my ‘Pals’ on Connect

  • Have you met JacobLed in your Comments section? His enthusiasm, I mean, sometimes if you are not careful, if Jacob comments on your posts, people will leave your Post to like Jacob’s comments. He contributes so effectively and adds color to an already beautiful ‘Post’. I got to know of Jacob’s charm, when I saw how Jacob got one of our Moderators engaged in the Comments! I mean; he so tastefully described each meal that anyone will pick a flight straight out to give same food a trial.
  • OliverLeeKiwi :grinning: : Have you read any of Oliver’s posts? Be it about an adventure, a Pet, or a Photography! The picture is clear! He takes the pain to describe. As I type this post, I remember Oliver’s ‘show us your Pet Photos’, I can remember ‘Milford’s sounds’, the Lone Tree, etc. I remember so clearly, because, virtually, he took me with him on those journeys!
  • Have you read any of FalguniP’s posts? She’s a Pro on the Food Counter, her presentation and all! I mean in my head; I have tasted Momos
  • Have you seen VinayKrishna’s food presentations?! You see the ‘post’ and you can’t but click, it’s attention-grabbing!
  • Have you read ErmesT comments in his role as ‘Moderator’ or as a ‘Local Guide’. I mean it just feels like someone you have asked for a bottle of water who brings a jar (the type that can fit on a Water Dispenser). He knows all the rules of the program at the back of his hand! He is very strict and diligent, he carries out his responsibility with such gusto that it is infectious!
  • Have you met the sweet-natured and humorousEwaade  :joy:

That’s by the way, my point here is; there is no perfect way of writing, contributing and all of that, but there is so much more you can do better to make Connect a better place and to begin to enjoy Connect. Unlike all the other Social Media, Google is here to protect you and ensure your data is secure, also, you will be rowing with like-minded individuals who will only make your time better and who you are sure to learn something new from!

In summary;

  1. Write a detailed Post
  2. When you like a post, leave a Comment if possible; so the person may understand why you ‘liked their post’
  3. Do not be afraid of Commenting here, the Google Moderators and Google Filters are here to protect you
  4. Visit the Profile pages of others, like their posts and leave comments
  5. When people comment on your Post, try to reply as soon as is possible

HOW DO I CONNECT?

When I put up a post, after replying ‘my mentions’, I move to my likes; I click to see all who have liked my photos

Liking a comment, a picture or Post, or whatever else on Connect is great. However, leaving a Comment, tells the person the ‘reason’ you liked the comment.

If you feel the person who ‘wrote the post or comment’ may not understand your language, by all means, use the Google Translate. To learn how to use this function properly, please check here and here.

Let’s keep enjoying the company of one another. As Local Guides, we are great, as ‘Connect’, we are unbeatable!

You gotta choose if you want to be ‘great’ or you want to be ‘unbeatable’.

:+1:

Very well said and articulated, @Ewaade_3A

After all we are here to Connect.

So if there are more comments to a post than the length of the post itself, it is a good indicator that people are connecting and chatting.

But I will reserve my love for badges.

After all, what do we get as real people after spending real money and real time at the end of the day? Virtual Badges, right?

So why not if they are coming from any which way, Giving and accepting likes can not be questioned.

BR,

Tushar

After going through your post, I will only say " What an Ewaade" @Ewaade_3A . You are awesome, you have mentioned @VinayKrishna

A mesmerising fotographer and food blogger.

@FalguniP an awesome food creator. And last but not least Ermes. This time I am not tagging Ermes.

Overall you @Ewaade_3A are also a good food blogger, I have seen your post, and You have proved yourself an exceptional Connect Writer.

I have seen a post of Oliver also. Can’t say much about Oliver.

But Ewaade , You have a good memory also.

Thank you for a hardworked Post.

:grinning: Very well spoken, Tushar, the point is not that; “we do not appreciate these badges” but that we should ‘Connect’ with each other.

Such that; in whatever part of the world I travel to, I know that; "I have got at least One Local Guide who will be prepared to show me his/her city because they have 'Connected with me’.

If I show my ‘Great Friend’ Badge or ‘True Friend Badge’, does that automatically make you accept me and want to connect with me or come out and leave all your work behind to show me your city?

No!

Bonds are formed over communication, that is what ErmesT’s trying to say and I completely agree with him!

Of course, I don’t mind been tagged by my friends, because it is a way of calling my attention to something… @TusharSuradkar

Hi Didi @Ewaade_3A !

I mean, Really ?

Thanks for your words of appreciations. Definitely you are right. What i usually say that, Content is the real king. When i wrote my 1st post on the connect, i got around 15-17 likes and then after i just tried exploring the people that, What do they really post ? Then after few weeks i wrote a post about 3-Home made yummy foods. On the second day it got featured in the food and drink section for almost 14-16 days. After that, the post went on trending. Then i realised (practically), How to write a post on connect. After that 2 posts got featured in Travel pin for almost a week.

Now i can say, i am improving and will improve even further.

Thank You. Your words of appreciation really means a lot. :pray:t2:

Lots of Love.

No worries @Ewaade_3A

You may always tag me.

BR,

Everything you have said is true, my dear. ‘Content is King’. I think your background also helped you to hit the ground running.

You are doing better by even talking to people on a daily basis, my dear**Vinay @VinayKrishna **

I started taking extra care after a friend sent me a message one morning that I had been ‘somehow banned’ from Connect. :astonished: :disappointed_relieved:

@FalguniP You have a partner, sis! I mean it just feels like I am more active at night!

Hi @Ewaade_3A its very informative post. Your idea is great. You have told that posting like with comment is clear and two way communication between LGs. Thanks for sharing this post and also for showing my profile ;). I will improve my side with quality more than quantity.

Hvala @Ewaade_3A . Svoje objave pišeš tako pametno, razumljivo i detaljno. Sve je jako zanimljivo i uživam čitati. Hvala na velikom trudu. Mi smo povezane, mi smo prijateljice. Uvijek me možete označiti, kada želite. Znam da će biti nešto zanimljivo i vrhunsko !! :tulip: :tshirt: :two_hearts:

Hi @Ewaade_3A

I see you are doing great.

Thanks for supporting the efforts to keep Connect on topic and free from self-promotion and unnecessary tags and likes for that matter. As this thread, in my opinion, is getting filled with small talk-posts rather than a real discussion of how we can prevent over-tagging and excessive liking, I will contribute by sharing some happy news related to likes. Earlier today I received another official and congratulatory email from Google saying that I got a new badge. Ths time for having reviewed 5000 likes on what I have posted on Connect. This is nice but also a bit strange since the likes count on my profile only says 4972! Whatever! Connections are better than badges. Always!

Cheers
