Hello, I have noticed that when you are on the home page here on local guide connect, scroll down until you pass the category of Travel depending on whether you are an alumni or not, if you are, you will have the next two categories AR on Google Maps Feedback & Discussions and Street View Discussion and if you are not, you wont have those unless you are a Trusted Street View Photographer, you will have Street View Discussion. The post show up there only if you added your location at the bottom of your post where is written Add a Location to this Discussion.
Just after that, for me it shows the latest posts from Durban, South Africa and the more tool to show more if you click on it. I must say that this is what we have been asking for all along. Thank you to the local guide team for taking our concern and implementing our ideas.
I am sure more is coming. Thank you once again!!!

Great find @Raphael-Mahumane . Clicking around a bit, I discovered that you can easily controll which city is shown there by entering another place name under My Settings > Personal > Personal Information > User Preferred Location.
Seems to be some text related search, as not all results are correct (in the sense of 100% match of city name)

Another test (with entering other words in the User Preferred Location) just showed that it also works nicely when you enter country names there, not only citiy names. And you can apparently enter multiple ones separated by semicolons⦠this is simply awesome!

Multiple cities definitely works

More than two cities stops it working @Raphael-Mahumane @JanVanHaver

@PaulPavlinovich this has just solved another problem, which is to show active local guides for that specific country or city, now is easy to see who lives in the same area as you.

Yes @PaulPavlinovich I think it can only take one city or one country, or use city and country at the same time. I used my city alone and it showed posts form city alone, I then tried city and country like Durban, South Africa and it showed posts from the whole country. I am loving this!!!

Itās definitely a step in that direction @Raphael-Mahumane , but that will not work if the LG does not include any geographic info in his/her post. But Iām really happy to have a way now to see all posts linked to 2 different countries in 1 convenient section

I tried adding two cities from two different countries and their posts showed up.
To make this more useful, local guides should be encouraged to add their location at the bottom of their posts where is written Add a Location to this Discussion. I know that is our choice to do that based on privacy issues, and I once heard that we must not include location there unless the post is based on your location such as a meetup, or addressing a problem on a specific location, or about local stories. This is the only thing that might make this feature to not pick up all the posts from a specific country and city to not show up there. what do you think @JanVanHaver @PaulPavlinovich and @Safdarrai .

Perhaps the guideline to include/not include a location will change now that we have this feature? @Raphael-Mahumane Letās see what the official āAnnouncementā post will say (I assume there will be one to formally announce this in the coming hours/days).
Anyway, @PaulPavlinovich , I can indeed confirm that it works when adding 2 search terms which can be either a city or a country name (bot in local language or in English, at least for the ones I am able to test) separated bu a comma or semicolon. When trying to add 3 search terms, no ālocation-basedā section is shown at all.

I tried to get the new feature to show me cities using https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/Location?loc=āSan Franciscoā (and other variations) but its too smart for that
it just takes you back to the home page. It has to be the variable.

Well, fellow hacker @PaulPavlinovich , my attempt to outsmart the system was entering a value such as āGent, -Gentingā in the User Preferred Location field in an attmept to show posts from the Belgian city āGentā, but not the ones from āGentingā that also show up when having only āGentā - but that did not work either.
